OK, I am crazy into research on items like this. I read hundreds of reviews and certainly did not want one that spouted a mess out the steam vent, (even though people invented a hack for that) or did not cook the rice perfectly. After all, people searching this item want to cook RICE. I am so glad I settled on this one! I did have to pay $20 more than I wanted, but really it is not nearly as much as the other high end ones and cooks to perfection. What I love:1) it cooks rice perfect, then stops and switches automatically to keep warm. Most don't do it auto.2) It is simple- from menu you select "regular", then push start. I wanted it to not be complicated.3) It does dozens of other neat things I may find time to try out some day.4) It does not spew anything out the vent, looks beautiful, has a carrying handle.5) I did NOT prewash rice (not into that) just threw it in, and it cooked fluffy. Not sticky, not clumpy, not undercooked. In my opinion, you couldn't get better and no reason to pay more. But, worth the extra 20 for exceptional performance. My only "con" is reading the start up manual is tricky since apparently in China they have all the money in the world but cannot afford to pay a translator. Example: Installing the Steam Vent (the only item you have to install) says: "Put the groove downward on the place".(WHAT PLACE??) Turn the slip buckle of the steam valve by the arrow so the slip buckle turns on the buckle." Finally I called on my mechanical husband who had to spend about 15 min. figuring out the gibberish. However, it can be figured out and then it is DONE.LOVE IT!!!

Love the rice cooker but....
The rice cooker works wonderfully! I'm giving it 3 stars because one it arrived with a big crack in it. Glad I had stuff to fix it. And two according to the instructions the brown rice setting isn't for brown rice. It's for clay pot style rice with meat and veggies. I called the company directly to ask what setting or how long I should cook brown rice because it is a harder whole grain. They had no idea. Had zero advice to give and couldn't even tell me how long the brown rice setting ran for. I used the brown rice setting to make brown rice. The result was mushy brown rice that was burnt on the bottom. Next time I will just run it through the regular cycle twice or something. Great rice cooker but unknowledgable staff and damaged product resulting in a 2 star loss. I would recommend this rice cooker to those looking at buying one.

Smart Design - Simple but Very Useful Menu - Highly Recommended
Wow, I was surprised the cooker was shipped here (for free) next day. It looked better than I expected:- big buttons, simple menu (easy to use), but very functional, It meets all my needs: Pre-Set (to set rice-ready time, not to guess the cooking time by setting the starting cook time), Quick (shorten the cooking time), Steam, Porridge, Soup, Cake, Brown and Warm (marking elapsed hours). Its Quick mode cooked the 5-cup rice in 25 minutes. I learned this cooker requires less water, when I noticed a little water came out from the top, but the top and cap were very easy-to-clean. I will start to use the measuring cups for the accuracy and efficiency of this cooker. I really appreciate its build-in battery to keep the clock and menu setting, when unplugged. This is my first buy from Rosewill, but I think they have very smart designers - Fuzzy Logic Rice Cooker is also a Food Steamer - based on Chinese cooking experience. This Made-in-China model is much better than those Japanese and Korean cookers I had (they costed too much and broke only in one year or two). I will order another (bigger size) for my sister, as she is busy, but likes the rice freshly made with automatic schedule!

High Tech Rice Cooker, but last a few week
Look good ... BUT just use for 6 times then ..DEADI have to spent $35 to sent it back to Rosewill ..... very very bad.During waiting for get Rosewill back, I go back and use my simple 14 years old rice cooker. Now, I got Rosewill cooker back and it still in the box.I am afraid to use Rosewill , because it is so fragile. My old simple rice cooker last for more than 14 years , not 5 weeks like this fancy looking rice cooker. If you like just the look of it .... Good Luck ...!!!

One year and it's still cooking
Compared to my smaller Zojirushi, this is a quality value option. The unit looks nice, it's just as easy to clean as my Zoj, and the price is hard to beat. It took a long time (months) to get the rebate from the seller, but it came eventually. Doesn't make a mess, easy to clean, a couple of other modes are helpful like porridge though it still requires some monitoring and adjusting. Some modes like "browning" are useless to me. Overall, the "smart" features on this are not important to me, as long as it makes good white and brown rice, which it does. The scooper holder on the side is a nice extra feature. We use this at least every other day.Minor critiques:- Some of the mode buttons are really hard to push on mine. I was going to return it for its faulty timer until I realized I just wasn't pressing the button in just the right spot (to the side) with just the right firmness (super hard).- There is no place for water to drain after cooking. Not sure this is a problem as the drainer on my Zoj doesn't work that well.- The light keeps blinking when it's off. Initially, we pulled the plug each time but we're afraid this would wear it out so we just leave it now and let it blink. Minor irritation but hopefully it will not cause the light to wear out faster either.- It's bigger than I'd expected or needed for a 5.5 cup. Takes up a lot of room on the counter.Overall, I'm happy with this purchase and would buy it again at the sale price for which I got it.
