Worked great with a little trimming
I used this to remove the permanent cable from a set of Beyerdynamic DT 990 headphones. The stock cable is too long. I had to trim some of the extra plastic on this snap in jack and had to shorten the "wings" a little, so that the jack would snap into the headphone housing securely. The headphone housing plastic is a little too thick for this jack without a little trimming. The final results look professional and now i can use whatever length cable I want.

Great for adding detachable cable for large headphones
I used this jack to add a detachable cable to my Beyerdynamic headphones. It works great -- very easy to solder and mount, and 3.5mm cables snap in very securely. I appreciate the black plastic trim surrounding the jack because it make for a very clean/tidy installation by hiding any cuts needed for fitment, and it also helps to slightly reduce microphonics transferring from the cable to the headphones in other types of jacks where the metal jack is mounted directly on the headphone. The only thing to note is that this jack requires a pretty large surface area to mount (compared to the flush mount jacks that secure with a mounting ring/nut), so it may be trickier to verify fitment before buying. But if it does fit, it's great!

Brought my Sennheiser HD 280 pros into the modern age
Love my Sennheiser HD 280 pros, but found the super long coiled cord to be really frustrating for anything other than sitting at a fixed location. Plus no mic! So I opened the headphones, disconnected the coiled cord, and soldered in this panel jack. Just a little bit of dremel work to open up the headphone hole for the panel jack and I am in business, using a modern cord with iphone controls on my "classic" headphones. As you can see from the picture, the headphones look like they came this way from the factory.

Used For DT990s No Glue Involved Easy Installation
Used these to mod my Beyerdynamic DT990s and it ended up working perfectly with just a little dremeling. Just make the hole just big enough to fit the connector and it just slides right in there and because of the plastic tabs on the side there is no need to secure the mount with any type of glue because they keep it tightly secure. It also sits completely flush on the headphone so from the outside the headphone just looks like it came out of the factory like this.

Very nice!
Very nice. project turned out great. I am a novice at this, but... here is what I did. Took the rca cable that I needed, cut it in half. Then insert the half with the plug (which I didn't need) into this jack. I then proceeded to test each wire with the continuity tester, to see which wire corresponded to the three points on the jack. Two wires went to the top, and one on each side, soldered the ground wires together, and installed it with a touch of glue. It looks good, and the music sounds great in the car, better than my bluetooth alternative.

It Works. Price is a Little Steep.
It works. I give 3 stars because it doesn't really "grip" the hole drilled in my dash. It kept pulling out when I tried to unplug the audio cable. A zip-tie on the back side fixed that. Also, the price is a little steep for what it is... but I was in a hurry and this was the only one that I could get 2 day prime on.... there are probably more cost effective options if you have time to wait for shipping.

It fits great in the thick panel
I put this into 3/16" thick aluminum plate on a custom designed headphone amplifier. There are no problems with it so far. It fits great in the thick panel, despite being rated for a much thinner panel. It will not easily rotate, and doesn't require adhesive. Just drill the proper sized hole and shove it in, with perhaps the assistance of a mallet. Try it first in thick plastic plate before drilling your metal plate. And when you get around to drilling your metal plate, first tape your whole metal surface with masking tape, so that the chips don't scratch concentric circles in the work-piece.
