Awesome!
Console support was broken in XJ. Bought this and hoped it would be better quality. Hit the jackpot. This one is metal and solid. Had to tighten each screw little by little because the holes don’t line up all the way. Likely bc it doesn’t give like the plastic one. Once installed, it holds my console in place like never before. No wiggling or shifting at all. Highly recommend.

Works great, just might need different screws
Fit great, though I had to use smaller screws for two of the holes, though I could've drilled them bigger if absolutely necessary. Center console's like a rock now (opened it up and the old one was in at least five pieces).

Very sturdy, just a bit off for the heater vent.
I picked one of these up for my 2001 XJ Cherokee since it looked well constructed and was about half the cost I've seen it elsewhere. A couple years ago I fabricated a similar bracket for my 2000 XJ from some scrap steel, but that took me a few hours to get it right and I figured at this cost I'd rather just buy one. I removed the seats and the console completely, not because you have to, but I wanted to clean the it up a bit better. This made the bracket really easy to get to. As expected, the plastic factory bracket came out in multiple pieces.Fit and finish is nice, I had to pull on it a bit to get it lined up, but all the holes lined up fine and the original screws went in.My only complaint is that the posts on the top are a very tight on the heater vent tube and make it sit about 1/2 inch further back in the vehicle so it doesn't snap in at the front connection. I added a bit of thin weatherstripping and some gaffer's tape to hold it together at the front connection and I think it will work fine. Put everything together and now the center console is super solid!

Required quite a bit of modification in order to make it work
Like - very sturdy, steel is coated so it doesn't rust, console is now rock solidDislikes - The bracket did not fit well and had to be bent to make it attach to the floor. The brackets that hold the console are too wide and are turned the wrong way so you can't get the rear console heater duct to fit and still be able to connect it to the heater outlet under the instrument panel. I had to cut and bend the brackets so I could get the heater duct close to fitting into the heater outlet. I also had to bend both brackets up a quarter inch so they were above the duct and the console could be secured to the bracket.

Definite improvement to stock plastic bracket
So, like most, by stock plastic bracket was broken and no longer served any actual purpose. I was pulling the interior to a 5 speed conversion and install of some sound deadened so I figured it was the perfect time to correct this. The price of this bracket isn't great, but its not outrageous either. Thought about fabing up my own, but for under $50, I thought why bother. I did have to use some force to get the mounting holes to line up on the body, but in my case I also had butyl underneath it, so I chalked it up to that. Was able to mount it though with little effort. The rear lower vent tubing is a tight fit in this bracket and sits a little further rear than with the stock bracket, but it still slips over the supply vent, just not all the way up. If I really care, I will grab some hvac tape to ensure the connection does not leak air. I guess I could also easily modify the vent tube to it doesn't hit the bracket and allows it to fully seat up front. But either way I was able to install the vent and center console now it is solid. no more shifting around or rattling. To me it was well worth it.

Fits 1998 Cherokee XJ perfectly. Just get it.
There are a bunch of negative reviews saying this product does not fit. They are wrong. It fits just fine with no additional modifications in my 98 Cherokee XJ. See picture that proves it.There is an off-road company that sells these for ~$75, which IMO is a total rip-off. I think maybe that may have something to do with the negative reviews of this product. The $26 I paid for this is much more reasonable for what it is.My center console is now solid and sturdy. If you have an XJ, you will need this upgrade eventually if not now. It really does make a difference!
