Replacement Center Console Arm Rest Latch For 1997-2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ

Very heavy-duty and works well at a fair price, it's easy to install

Product arrived undamaged and I attempted to install into a 1998 Jeep XJ, but there were 2 problems:1. It doesn't fit correctly. The overall length of the handle is shorter than the original so the part that sticks out that you pull with your fingers (to open the console) is recessed behind the overhanging lip of the console top/armrest. It is very difficult to get at it and push hard enough to unlatch. Likewise the tab in the center that does the latching is a different length and bites into the receiving square shaped plastic hole way too hard. It latches so tightly I had to get out a flat head screwdriver and use the extra leverage to get the console open again to remove this defective part.2. This item ships from China and in my case took nearly a month to receive with the standard shipping option. Amazon doesn't specify in the description where items are shipping from. In the last year I've accidentally ordered items from China multiple times and had to wait weeks to months to receive. I've since learned that one has to use a roundabout way of looking up seller location. For those interested you have to go to the box on the right side that says "Other Sellers on Amazon" and click something like "New (x) from $xx.xx". This will give you a list of all the sellers of a particular item and states where they ship from.In the end I was not able to use this product in my Jeep and had to get an OEM latch on Ebay salvaged off another XJ. That one fit perfectly.

I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ and the arm rest latch broke. This part fits perfectly. Easy to install

Its a great and inexpensive replacement however it does catch on the arm rest. when you try to open center it seems to get stuck. It could be because its a 20yo vehicle or it could be not so perfect aftermarket molds. 4ish stars for a greatish product.

Easy install, good working order

The latch screwed in exactly where it was supposed to go but the latch piece itself was WAY to far off, it was not even close to closing in the hole it was supposed to and ended up breaking after 1 close. Besides it not fitting properly, it also held my console lid up 1 inch in the air because nothing was made properly on it! I'll just go to a junk yard and get one or buy an OEM one from eBay.

This small piece of black plastic made life A LOT nicer with NO longer having our center console on our 1999 Jeep Cherokee XJ ...just a floating around when you rest either your right or left arm on it ....NOW since we purchased the "Center console latch Its Perfect! "...Thanks Much

2001 xj limited. Had to modify part I no order to make it work. Original part is longer. At first glance it looks identical but the holes needed to be extended and the wings grinded in order to make it work, if you don’t do this, the part will break. Lower the arm rest slowly andMake sure it closes correctly before you break the part. If it doesn’t fit correctly and you are incapable of modifying part, then return it. Simple as that.
