Love this book!
What a great book! Gives you all you need to start soaping, whether it's cold processed, hot processed, melt & pour, hand milling or liquid soap. Very easy to understand, and Alicia writes in a friendly humorous way. She makes you want to try every method! She has organized the material very well, including equipment you'll need, ingredients (including different properties of oils and their SAP values), fragrance and essential oils (even gives the properties of some of the more popular EOs), coloring options, recipes, etc. There are even very helpful chapters on organic soaps, making your own recipes and figuring lye discounts, presenting/packaging your soap, and selling your soap. The only negative is that there seems to be an error in the calculation in the lye discount at the bottom of page 236. I loved this book - thanks Alicia!

This book was the perfect addition to a soap making kit I gifted!
I purchased this as part of a soaping gift for my mother-in-law. She has just begun her adventure with soap making and I figured, how can I go wrong with the Everything Soap Making Book! I checked it out, and flipped through before gifting, and it's perfect for the beginner soap maker. I gifted this with soap molds, oils, shea butter, essential oils of lavender and cedarwood, and other soap making products she will need. She absolutely loved her gift! She texted me the next morning to tell me she read most of the book after we left Christmas evening, and said she can't wait to start her journey into soap making, she loved it! I packaged everything in a basket, wrapped it with a cellophane basket bag and a pretty bow. It really was a perfect little soap making kit, and this book made it complete! I've been making soap for some time and I consider myself an experienced soap maker. I definitely recommend this book to anyone starting out on a soap making adventure! If you are an advanced soap maker looking for inspiration I suggest Natural Soap Making by Anne-Marie Faiola (the soap queen), as it is much more in depth for the seasoned soap maker. But this is the perfect tool for any beginner!

A Must Have for the Novice Soaper!
I purchased two books when I decided I wanted to learn how to make natural soap, and this was one of them. It took me some time between getting my books and actually making soap - but I am addicted to it now! This book is the one I reference most. Yes, it lacks nice images. However, the other book I purchased is loaded with professional images and lacks a lot of content that I need. This book is more comprehensive on topics such as cure time for varying processes, tools, and clean up procedures to considerations like how to package, putting together gift baskets, and why/when to consider selling product. It even goes into using the knowledge you learn from the book to create your own recipes!I by no means read this in order from chapter to chapter, though I did skim through in order upon first getting it. It is overwhelming that way! I skip around to where the information I want is - there is a complete Table of Contents so you can easily find the information you want when you need it.I started out making cold process soap from a kit I purchased through Bramble Berry (which is the first supplier listed in the appendix for resources). Then I moved on to Shower Steamers and Melt & Pour Soap. I am getting ready to make more CP. However, I am so happy for the Hot Process and Liquid Soap sections in this book since I really want to create liquid hand soaps and body washes. This book really does have everything you need in it to get started and stay going in the soaping hobby/business.I'd say this is a must have for anyone interested in learning how to get started the right way. The author even says to start small on your budget so that if it turns out you never want to make a second soap, you didn't end up investing a lot of money on something you won't do again.

Must Have For Soapmakers!
I just made my first two soaps a few days ago and I love this book! Even though I've watched literally dozens upon dozens of YouTube videos, went to a soapmaking class and even talked to a soapmaker, I still learned a lot more from simply reading this book, than from nearly everything else!It is very comprehensive in explaining any information a new soapmaker might need, including safety information, and I believe has enough info included that even someone who's been making soap for awhile might learn something new. (Like if a cold process soapmaker would like to try hot process, or vice versa.)I like that there are recipes included, and there is a lot of information on fragrances and oils too, and got me pretty excited when it talked about using a certain kind of clay to make your own soap mold designs (and SO much more)! I'm so pleased that all of this info is in one resource that you can have at your fingertips, literally. It has helped me tremendously and I'll be using for a long time to come!I completely recommend this book to someone who is new wanting to get into soapmaking, you won't regret it!
