Upgrade Worth Every Penny!
I’m a voice over artist and I recently made the switch from an Apogee Duet to the Solid State Logic SSL 2 USB Audio interface, and let me tell you, I’m beyond thrilled with this upgrade!First off, the setup was a breeze – literally plug and play on my Mac, which saved me a ton of time. The buttons and knobs have a fantastic tactile feel. Plus, let’s talk about the sound quality—absolutely top-notch! Every recording I’ve made sounds crystal clear and professional.I’m thoroughly impressed with the SSL 2. If you’re considering an upgrade or searching for a reliable audio interface, this is it. Trust me, you won’t regret it!

Incredible
I just got mine in yesterday and it is an awesome interface. I went from a 50$ M-Audio interface to this one, and man there is a HUGE difference. In the sound quality alone (I have Kali Audio LP-6's) and they are now much louder and clear, I havent played with the audio all too much yet, but just the sound difference alone is insane. I did have some issues with it getting in on time, but I bought this around the holiday season, so that's honestly to be expected. It came in on christmas day so it was like a lil christmas present from amazon. Overall, I am very impressed with this interface so far

Great Value... Solid drivers
I initially bought this product to use on my notebook and it works very well there. I found it to be very quiet I found the drivers to be very stable. I'm using it with studio one on a Windows 11 Notebook with Ryzen 7 CPU... I wanted a new interface for my main studio with more outputs.. I did a lot of research and decided the Motu M6 would serve my purpose. I install the drivers on my notebook plugged in the M6 and immediately got the blue screen of death. I uninstalled the SSL drivers and experienced the same thing. Rather than call Motu and deal with this that and the other I decided to send it back because the SSL had no such problems. I've since decided to order the SSL 2 plus for my main studio and keep the SSL2 for my laptop. sometimes you just have to stick with what works.... The only thing I don't like about the SSL 2 is that its size is not really great for portable use. I would also appreciate an on off switch since I leave my PC on all the time but don't need to run the interface..... Other than that according to every review I have looked at on youtube the SSL products have always come in the top 5.

Second copy works
Hoping that I can get a replacement or a refund for a defective product. I will update this review depending on what happens. My mistake not to realize that this was coming from a third party vendor and not from Amazon.I got a replacement and it works. I am using this unit to digitize records. Everything works and the quality of the resulting digital files is just okay, but the sound is not nearly as good as that coming from the original record. I have a very high quality system using ARC and Mark Levinson electronics. I can clearly hear that the digitized sound is not as good as the original. In a lower quality system, the difference would probably not be noticed. Considering that this unit is really not the expensive, it is pretty good for the price. Those rave five star reviews are most likely from people who are not using the SSL with a top quality audio system.

Great features
The unit had a bad cord. Spent 3 hours dealing with a "Device Descriptor Request Failure: (Windows 10 didn't recognize the unit). Swapped the cord and it starts working again (worked for 3 minutes before failure).I REALLY like the features (mix knob for input to output monitoring...Great for recording). Separate volume controls for the monitors and headphones. The 4k button adds a bit of crispness to the vocals (very nice).Purchased to replace an M-Audio solo dou (which is a decent little "get the job done, simply, workhorse). This SSL was worth every penny!!

Masterfully designed entry level interface
Aesthetically I love it, it has an analog feel with almost a digital/modern day hint to it. It can handle intensive microphones like the SM7B and other dynamic mics. Priced accordingly and having the knobs on the top instead of the front is very convenient to me personally. In this price range, you're looking at focusrite scarlett, uad volt, and the ssl 2 as the top options. I personally think the SSL 2 wins overall, even if it's not the best one in every single aspect

Sounds good, build questionable
As expected, this interface sounds fine. On Mac, totally plug and play. But the build quality is not great. It is a cheap, flimsy feeling plastic housing that doesn’t fit together very well. I would not use this as a portable device, I think it would break easily. Also, came with a faulty USB C cable that the retailer (Proaudio) refused to replace. Between the poor build quality and the poor quality control on the cable, hard to recommend this unit.UPDATE, March 2021: I wrote the above in July, 2020. I've been using the SSL continuously since then, mainly direct in guitar and bass. A week ago the inputs just quit working, so my suspicions about the build quality were confirmed. I contacted SSL support and got one reply a few days ago and then crickets--not a word from them about how to fix the unit or anything else. [Finally heard back, and SSL support said return to place of purchase which, of course, is a losing proposition as Proaudio refuses to honor the warranty.) Although the sound quality is certainly decent, this is not a longterm solution for home studio builders.
