Hiltex 02016 16" Snap Ring Plier Set, 2 Piece | External and Internal Pliers | Straight, 45°, 90° Tips

These Pliers are very big boys and they did work to remove a snap ring that broke 4 other sets of pliers. One issue, however, is that the tips are facing the wrong way. When I was cranking on them to remove the huge snap ring off my truck, they would keep slipping off. I could reverse the tips, but then they wouldn't close in close enough together to completely compress the snap ring. The other issue is that one of the screws rounded out when I tried to remove it and now I have to drill it out. Otherwise, these are beefy tools that work well. Just need to make some modifications and understand that you bought a bargain set of Pliers. I'm sure if you bought them off "The Truck" , They'd work perfectly, but also cost 4-5 times as much..

Works great

These snap ring pliers worked perfectly for removing a large internal snap ring on my turbo's compressor housing. The ratcheting mechanism is awesome and allows you to lock the pliers in place (and keep the ring compressed in case you need to reinstall the same ring afterwards.) They didn't feel flimsy and seem to be made very well! I was surprised to find a "NEIKO TOOLS" card inside with the manual. These seem to be a child company of NEIKO perhaps?

These pliers are designed to do one thing, remove large snap rings. Those rings are often stuck and require considerable force to remove, so the real test will be how the tips perform. One thing that I did not like was that Amazon just stuck a label directly on the blue plastic box with no outer carton...thinking that a lot of these show up banged up.

I tried to use this tool to remove a large internal snap ring on a vehicle differential. The long handles provided tons of leverage compressing the ring easily. The locking mechanism held well. However, the stamped tips were still soft enough that they twisted, loosing control of the snap ring, and allowing it to drop back into its slot. At the end of the day, I couldn't get the snap ring out with this tool and needed to purchase a different tool with Cast metal tips from Harbor Freight. The Harbor Freight tool worked but was harder to use as it lacked a locking mechanism, and the handles were shorter, lacking leverage and increasing difficulty compressing the ring.

These are fantastic. They helped me overhaul my transmission on my Harley—lots of stubborn clips. The ratcheting function is superb. Highly recommend.

Built a little to heavy duty. Had to grind the sides down a little to get in to the hub of my 4 wheel drive front axles. It worked great after the modification. You won't get the snap ring out with out them.
