Better Than A Standard Welding Mask (Solar Powered)
With a typical welding mask you cannot see what you are doing till the ark is struck making it a little tricky. This one goes darker in very bright light with some adjustments available for how dark and delay. At first I thought perhaps it needed batteries and the instructions only mention once that the LCD and electronics are solar powered. The biggest problem I had was figuring out the correct way to fit the head band (instructions have a drawing at the back but it is really poor quality). It comes with a spare set of glass plates should you damage the installed ones.

Very comfy and great value
For the price, this is a really good quality offering from a great name in this industry.Great comfort, and better than previous welding masks i have used that becone overly stuffy and hot after prolonged use.The instructions are reasonably clear nd included some helpful diagrams. All in all, a great value option!

Stanley Electronic Welding hemlet. Works great!
As someone who does a bit of mig welding now and again on my old camper van, until recently I've had to use one of those rubbish face masks you get with a welder. The cheap and nasty things you have to hold. Its either that or weld 'African Style'. Hover the tip of the torch over the weld, quickly shut your eyes and strike! Sometimes when your under a vehicle in a confined space then that's the only way I can weld. Health & Safety would go mad! However, this excellent Stanley welding helmet is a great improvement on both methods. It fits neatly on your bonce and the protective glass auto detects welding glare so you can see through the glass but it darkens like polarising glasses, when you strike.A neat bit of kit for the DIY occassional welder or even a garage welder.

Great If You Do Lots Of Welding
A review for Stanley Electronic Welding Protection Helmet With Auto Plus Adjustable Shade.A very well made sturdy but lightweight welding mask, being constructed from Polycarbonate so its tough, real tough. Fit is very secure it fits similar to a motor cycle helmet (although not nearly as tight), ensuring you are not distracted holding the mask with one hand whilst welding, sizing is universal. The second main feature of this mask is that it auto darkens which for welding purposes is useful as traditional mask are typically too dark to see what you are doing until you fire up the welder. The darkening is electronic, the delay as well as the sensitivity can be finely controlled to suit your needs via dials inside the helmet, allowing you to see what you are doing before and during the welding, removing any guess work. The helmet is solar cell powered so doesn't require batteries. Overall very well constructed, universal fitting, auto darkens.

Shame it was poorly packaged and arrived i like a do it yourself kit.
14 june 2019The worst thing about this welding helmet that, despite being assembled and supposedly ready for use from the box, mine arrived as a box of assorted bits.It clearly wasn't intended to since there were no assemble instructionsThe fixings and adjustments for the head/skull band were all loose in the box and the auto darkening shade was also hanging free from the control unit.Luckily nothing had got broken but it took some considerable time to reassemble the head band to the body of the helmet and ensure that it was correctly fitted and functioning properly.I had to do this trying to follow the tiny diagrams at the rear of the user instructions which took some doing and also was what convinced me that the thing had simply fallen apart in transit.Anyway once reassembled I set about testing the helmet. After I had ensured a good fit and removed the transit covers from both the front and rear glass I firstly did my normal test of auto helmets.I set the shade level to maximum and the delay likewise and then shine a bright bench lamp at the helmet. The visor will (or should) then darken, the length of time it stays dark is dependent on the setting of the delay feature.Once I have done that I try a live welding test using either my MIG or stick welder. The visor performed perfectly, the time taken to darken and lighten again varied as per the setting of the delay time level. The settings for the shade level can be set per industry recommendations (as per the hand book) and the sensitivity can be set using the control on the visor .Ensure that you are aware of what settings you should be using otherwise permanent and serious damage can result to your eyes.I would have given this 5 stars if it hadn't arrived in pieces rattling around inside the box .

Nice compact helmet backed by good name
My husband loves Stanley products and over the years and he has used a lot and has also introduced my son to them. My is over the moon with a new helmet he has got and my son is thrilled that he will get this one. It is really well made and is really compact. The display window is a good size and gives a nice a wide viewing area. Spare lens are included which is good as my son can be quite clumsy. There is good dimming depending on the light , The headband of the helmet is well padded making it comfortable to wear for long periods. Angle can be adjusted and width is readily moved

Excellent helmet
First my helmet need a bit of putting together when I received, it, the straps holding it on to your head were not attached, and there is no instructions.Once I worked out the assembly you have a very light well made helmet. There isn’t much I don’t like about the helmet, fits is very good, I like the Adjustable Shade and the vision is very clear and good.A great helmet, needs some clear instructions on assembly, otherwise its a perfect helmet
