Difficult to set up
It seems, after 24hrs ownership, to be a good little printer. Clear, fast text printing...not tried picture printing yet, as we don't really need it for that. However, the set up is not straight forward. I tried to set this printer up following the guide pamphlet exactly...it doesn't work that way. It tells you you highlight the box containing the mast/wifi icon and the phone icon. There isn't one. The box indicated only shows the phone icon. Highlighting this box, you cannot proceed...because your phone, even with the correct Canon app loaded, won't find the printer. You have to figure out how to connect the printer to your WiFi router first; no easy task if you're not au fait with these things. I'm not, and it took me 15 minutes through trial and error to do it. After that, I switched the printer off and on again, and it now showed the correct pair of icons in the relevant box. After this, it was plain sailing following the initial set of instructions. Connecting to your router is not covered in the instructions, and this printer does not appear to support Bluetooth, which I mistakenly thought it did when buying it. (I'm probably wrong about it not having Bluetooth...there are no clear instructions on this). So if you think you can link it to your system unaided, buy it, it's not bad: if you're a novice, don't buy it...you'll get annoyed at it.

excellent so far
well I replaced an almost 14 year old Canon MP480 ... good thing with the old one is that I could refill the cartridges very easily, I am hoping it will be the same with the new one. Canon printers are usually made to last and only time will tell. I found that the installation process wasn't easy peasy for me, but once you get it going it should work just fine. we are using our router to connect to the printer and except for one occasion where I had to reconnect it to the network it is working well. The printer menu can do with a bit more explanation (bare in mind that I did not read the instructions nor watched many videos on youtube to learn)this printer is very quite and fast enough. I love that full duplex function so if you are printing on both side of the page this is a treat.Canon software feels redundant and a bit of a bloatware ... I tried to print a picture in a smaller that A4 glossy paper and before I could get it right I ended up printing it using a different software... anyhow the printer is absolutely perfect and I can't really complain about anything especially taken into account the features, the functionality and the look. I could very easily recommend this printer to anyone.

Good for the price
So far so good! Bought to replace Canon Pixma 5750 which was slow and clunky and refused to accept Canon cartridges..was never really happy with it although it lasted about 5 years. This is is quieter and faster printing although as previously stated it is a bit flimsier. The rear paper cartridge is a bit of a faff although no doubt I'll get used to it. I also don't see the point of the removable strip of plastic in the bottom paper tray but all in all, for the price no complaints so far although not keen on the combined colour cartridge. On the plus side I found it very straightforward to connect via theapp..from unpacking to up and running in around 10 minutes...and I'm an older person.

So poor it's funny
There's good printers, average printers, rubbish ones and then this. It's so bad it's funny. Most inkjets go through a charging process when you turn them on, can take a minute or so and disables the printer (and uses ink no doubt). This Canon takes about three minutes EVERY time you turn it on. Not only that, after each print it then goes through another charging process. If you have to cancel a print that takes minutes, then it goes through ANOTHER charging process. It's probably actually available to print less than 50% of the time it's on. I have printed out around twenty documents so far and the colour ink tank is already between 25% and 50% remaining.Canon do make some excellent printers, they're usually along with Epson the best in my opinion. This one however should be confined to the dustbin where it belongs

Ink for this Printer is more expensive than the 5 ink cartridges.
I have only been using this printer for a couple of weeks. However it seems a really good buy. However, if anyone has been using a Canon Priter with the 5 ink cartridges. The price for the ink for this Printer has probably gone up 3 times compared to the cartridges, and that is compatible prices. Just be aware you get a little Ink in two cartridges, one black the other, Cyan Mangenta and Yellow in one cartridge. As I said at the beginning of my review, I have only had my Priter for two weeks and I needed to replace both ink cartriges. The printer does print very Quietly and has Aautomatic double sided its easy to set up. Even for me who is not great with technology. If for any reason you don't want to use it wirelessly there is a connection to use a cable to computer, however you don't get a cable with it. So far so good. I have always has Canon Printers over many years, and not once have I been dissapointed. So on We go with this one, which I now only use for pleasure if I need to a nd not for business. I am saying this as I won't be using it every day, in fact may not use it every week, but other revies I have read have been favourable.

Good for home use to print letters, but not so good for printing volume
I bought this because I print handouts for my training programmes but in the 2 weeks I've had it the integral colour cartridge has had to be changed twice and the black one once. It's been expensive particularly if you need to do a lot of printing because you can't buy a single colour cartridge, you have to buy the tri-colour cartridge. Sturdy otherwise and quite easy to use, just not right for me. The paper tray also slides in and out under the pull-out paper holder for the printed pages which is clunky and frustrating.
