Great ice but breaks every 3 months
I really wish I could give this product more stars. When it is working it runs efficiently producing ice that everyone in the family fights over. It makes a TON of ice that keeps up with our demand. The problem we've run into twice now is that after about 2-3 months of consistent use something breaks internally. It makes a grinding sound and no longer gives us ice. Each time I've reached out on this issue support has been helpful in providing a replacement at my expense for shipping($38 each time). If it dies a third time I'm going to get a different machine. $80 on repairs in six months feels like a monthly subscription for "maintenance".Another thing that bothers me is that each time we've had the product replaced they don't want it back for review/quality control. They ask that I share a picture of the power cable cut and that I dispose of it on my own. It just feels like such a waste of resources. Couldn't they refurbish parts? Do an RCA on what's breaking and improve the next version? It just lacks effort in quality control.TLDR: Great ice but I'd look elsewhere unless you want to pay $160 a year on shipping for replacements every 3 months.

Makes great ice, fast
It makes good ice fast. It is pretty quiet. I only use spring water, and the maker has to be dried and cleaned every 2 weeks.Update to my previous review. The ice maker starter making unbelievably bad noice six months in. It is so loud I can't hear myself think. I will update this review after I deal with customer service.

Who would have thought something as simple as ice could be so GOOD!
The icemaker in our overpriced 4 door fridge is not reliable. It works when it wants, and doesn't when you need it. So I was looking for an alternative. We got a countertop unit that made bullet style ice and that what not a good choice and we immediately sent it back. I read some good things about "nugget" ice makers and thought I would give one a try and I am so glad I did!My wife was a skeptic when the machine arrived, but now it is her favorite appliance, and I frankly don't care if that tiny freezer inside the main refrigerator section of our 4 door EVER makes another cube of ice.....because this thing is AWESOME and I will never go back to cube ice.We use it in the afternoon, evening, and sometimes late at night. And often, we only get a cup full of ice and no liquid because the ice is so good. I know that sounds amazing, but it is true and we are not alone. My new boss at work was just telling me about his families new favorite appliance and I said let me guess, a counter top nugget ice maker? And to his astonishment he said yes, how did you know? And I confessed that we have one too and really enjoy ours. We then discovered we both have Luma ice makers and got them from Amazon.

Newair does not stand behind their warranty!
*** UPDATE to my previous update***I reached out to the manufacturer - Newair, specifically asking if there was anyone in my area that is authorized to service these ice machines. I was more than willing to pay for the service. They asked me for my proof of purchase, which I provided. They then asked me for a video of the machine making the noise, I sent them a video. They replied back there was no audio on the video, which is absolutely false. They then asked me for the email from Amazon from when I originally placed the order, which I provided. They responded back and told me they reviewed my information that I provided and would not be filing a warranty claim. I was confused by their response because I did not ask for a warranty claim. I merely asked for someone in my area that services these machines. They told me they could not validate my receipt information, that it looked fraudulent. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau because I am appalled that they would say my invoice was fraudulent. They responded to the complaint through the Better Business Bureau, stating they contacted Amazon directly and that Amazon could not confirm I purchased it through them, which is an absolute lie. I contacted Amazon and had them send me an email stating that it was an indeed a legitimate purchase and provided another copy of the invoice. I sent Newair copies of all the screenshots with Amazon customer service, plus the email from the Amazon CS Rep confirming my purchase, my original invoice, the payment plan that I used through Amazon to purchase the ice machine, etc. and now Newair has stopped responding. I reached out to Newair customer service one more time to give them the opportunity to resolve this. After being called a liar, I want them to stand behind their one year manufacturer warranty. I served my country for 30 years and never once was my integrity in question. Spending $332 and then being called a liar is not something I will tolerate. I filed a consumer complaint with the California State Attorney General’s office and I plan on filing one with the Virginia State Attorney General’s office due to Newair refusing to provide warranty service.Do not purchase this ice machine. You’re just wasting your money. Newair does not stand behind the warranty; they would rather call their customers liars than stand behind their warranty.***UPDATE*** This thing sounds like a bird struggling to get out the clutches of a rabid cat’s mouth. It’s been meticulously cleaned monthly and has worked great until a few weeks ago when this noise started. It’s not even 6 months old!! I’m so disappointed because I did love it for 5 months.******Initial Review - “I honestly cannot recommend any of these stupid ice machines. They’re too expensive and don’t stand the test of time. *** I’ve owned a GE opal 2.0, as well as a Frigidaire Gallery. They both were soooo freaking loud that I could hear them from any room in my house. I recently purchased this Luma to replace a 2nd (piece of crap) ice maker, the Frigidaire Gallery. The only downside to this Luma is the capacity of the ice bucket. It’s VERY small compared to the Opal & Frigidaire. The Opal was horribly loud, but nowhere near as horrendous as the Frigidaire Gallery … although BOTH sounded like cats were in heat and/or having relations in my kitchen. I am literally sitting in my family room typing this review, and I cannot hear the Luma, AT ALL! It is extremely quiet! I purposely waited several days before leaving this review, because these ice machines can be perfect for the first two or three days and then they completely go to hell. The Luma is very sleek, and fits under cabinets much better than the GE Opal, or the Frigidaire Gallery. It’s much more compact, takes up much less space, and the fact that it makes almost ZERO noise … game changer! I absolutely recommend this (although the small ice bin capacity sucks) ice maker over any of the previous ones I’ve owned. No joke, within 15 minutes of setting this machine up and plugging it in, it was producing ice! It is fast, efficient, SUPER QUIET, and honestly the best ice machine on the market … as far as I’m concerned. The reason I gave it four stars is because the capacity of the ice bucket could be bigger.”

Good nugget ice maker, until it wasn't
I thought this was going to be a good ice maker, but it only worked for a couple of days and then it started leaking water from underneath the machine.I returned it and purchased a different brand.

Leaked
Machine worked okay and made good ice. However, it doesn’t hold very much ice at all. One morning I woke up to water underneath the machine. It had leaked. But couldn’t figure out where from. Decided to return it. Wanted a machine that held more ice anyways.
