This is now an older treatment of assessment in educational settings, but it’s still useful because of the very practical and general nature of the information. I would recommend this as an introduction to the topic from a practical point of view.

This is an excellent short but comprehensive guide to assessment. I already have the author's book on effective grading which I also recommend highly.
