Try this first!!!I highly reccommend!!!! and it is reversable for both left and right handed people.. so great.. They thought this thru. also comes with two diff. shaving graters for diff. size.

Works great
This was a replacement for the identical one that I bought at Ikea, the handle of which broke after several years of use (hence the 4 stars instead of 5). It works well, is easy to take apart and clean, and I'm left-handed so appreciate that the handle can go on either side. Having a small one like this (as opposed to one that attaches to the counter for rapid shredding of large amounts) is convenient as far as bringing it to the table for those who might want to add extra cheese.

A more versatile and easier to clean choice
Had purchased the Zyliss rotary grater that was top-rated by America's Test Kitchen. Great for hard cheeses, but awful for soft. Bought this one in hopes that the larger holes would let it succeed where the Zyliss failed. It did!The grating drums are open on both ends, making clean-up MUCH easier. The large-hole drum is great for soft cheeses, the small-hole drum rips through hard cheeses. The IKEA uses a locking end cap to keep the drum in place; it's easier to disassemble for cleaning than the Zyliss. The handle and crank are both longer on this than on the Zyliss. That might be a drawback for those with smaller hands.Hard to argue with the reputation or build quality of the Zyliss, but for my money, this gadget from IKEA is a better value.

Parmesan and cheddar excellent. First one now at daughter's house, second one on its way.
Overall much less effort, and way quicker. Easier on wrists, hands, and arms. Perfect for when larger amounts needed, not so much for smaller amounts due to time cleaning, Unless you want to show off at a special meal.We much prefer the quality of fresh grated cheese, using U.S. Cheeses, which can be reasonably priced at about $4 a pound, but still very good for daily use. We also use imported parmesan daily. Had been grating on a box grater, hard work, and dangerous to the knuckles for year.Yes, as noted in other reviews you can only put in smaller pieces, but it only takes a couple of seconds to slice off another chunk, open the grater, and start again. The larger barrel is perfect for chunks of white cheddar, as long as it comes straight from frig. The smaller barrel is good for the hard parm, but it comes out larger than I had expected. However, it comes out so very thin, so it melts just a bit on hot food, in a very good way. We put it on popcorn, and although it sort of melts on to the popcorn, and disappears, mixed with butter, nutrient yeast, and a little salt, it is something good.Cleaning is about equal to box grater, using a brush, or dishcloth. Have used the dishwasher a few times, and that was fine. Can make a Huge pile of cheese faster, and easier on arms and wrists, and safer. We store our cheese in glass containers in the frige. If got a larger one, might try keeping the grater in the frig with the cheese, to avoid cleaning it all the time.If needed a tiny amount off of block of cheddar, would still use my little flat hand grater with a handle.Made unusable mess out of whole carrots. Will still use box grater for them.

Great product
This is a game changer. Easy to use and clean. No more bags of shredded cheese. Fresh is better.

Surprised!...at first
I just tossed my second broken Pampered Chef (PC) cheese grater in the trash and was so bummed I would never find another grater that would work as well as that one did. Both of the PC graters broke in exactly the same spot so I finally decided it was time to try something different. I was a little apprehensive to try this one when I read another review saying these were at IKEA for $5! Thought they couldn't be that good if they only cost $5 at IKEA! So yes, they're overpriced here but I never get to the ikea store. I've used this a couple of times now and I'm so happy I bought it! I really wanted a grater that had the course grating drum and so many of the other graters have just the super fine graters. This one works awesome! I always throw my cheese in the microwave for about 7 seconds on 50% power to pull the moisture out of it before grating then the cheese doesn't get stuck in the grater. (A trick I learned at a PC party). Grates the cheese fabulous! Couldn't be happier and would highly recommend!Update:So I've owned this for just under 11 months and it just broke. It's had all kinds of cracks in it for the last 4 months or so and the handle finally gave way. I did get annoyed with how small I had to cut the cheese in order to get it in the grater...would take quite a while to shred if I wanted to grate more than a little bit. You also have to apply quite a bit of pressure to shred it. I would say its worth the $5 at IKEA, I'm thinking now that I paid too much at fifteen dollars and it's definitely not worth the current price of thirty-three dollars! Starting my search for another grater

What a great product.
It fits in a drawer. It is easy to turn. It produces really light grate. It's easy to hold onto. The cheese comes out of the barrel with ease. The plastic is a great quality. The barrels are nice and sharp.
