Nimitz 2nd HDD SSD Hard Drive Caddy Adapter Compatible with Lenovo Thinkpad T440p T540p W540p W541 with Bezel

I bought this for a high-end Lenovo W540 equipped with a professional graphics card, 32GB of RAM, and an i7-4800MQ processor. The machine is intended for resource demanding design and CAD work.Even though I installed a Transcend M.2 256GB SDD in addition to the pre-installed 2.5" SSD I was running out of storage space.I honestly did not want to shell out the ridiculous amount (more than most HDDs and some SSDs these days) Lenovo was charging for their caddy, but I would have if aftermarket alternatives were subpar quality.Based on the reviews of this Nimitz caddy and its very reasonably price I decided to give it a shot.I am happy to report that the caddy fits flush against the frame of the W540. Installing a M500 960GB SSD was straightforward and everything worked like a charm. You really can not tell that this is not a Lenovo part. It looks like it belongs there.Thanks to this cheap, but not cheap-looking caddy, I have now three SSDs running on The W540. How awesome is that?

Effectively allowed me to put additional storage in my thinkpad. It's about as durable as the DVD drive it replaces, and the design looks the same. The disk access led is a little annoyingly bright, but that's a nitpick.

Item came packaged in the sort of plastic you don't lose multiple fingers trying to pry open which I was happy about. It comes with the mounting hardware for your 2.5" HDD already installed, and a little Phillips screwdriver to tighten said hardware to secure your HDD in place. The activity LED is a nice touch and is Blue when idle, and blinks or turns solid Red depending on the activity level. I personally used a HGST 1TB 2.5" 7200rpm drive in this caddy which is in my Lenovo T440p. It worked like a charm on the first boot-up. Windows knew it was there immediately, and Windows is currently formatting the drive for use. I saw no reason to spend 2x on a Lenovo brand product when I saw good reviews on this particular product. Highly recommended. Works perfectly right out of the box and looks like it was meant to be there from the start!

This is an extremely easy install, mostly thanks to Lenovo's design of the laptop chassis.Faceplate came damaged with a deep scratch and the plate doesn't really match the W540 very well. Unit works great though so far, no issues with the important stuff.Will buy again for my second W540 if it stays reliable.

Easy to install. Fit my new SSD and I've had zero issues. The color of the plastic and the grooves aren't a perfect fit but it's 95% blended in. You'll never notice because it's not like you're looking down there ever. This is a really convenient tool. Glad I bought it.

This is blatantly falsely advertised. There's absolutely no support for T540p, just look at the attached pictures (thin one is the CD rom from my T540p, the other one is this replacement.Let alone that it doesn't even fit in the slot, the screw attachment is in a totally wrong position.So yeah, as far as I am aware, it's a waste of money if you have a T540p

Easy to install drive and install in laptop ( Lenovo W541). only thing that bothers me is that even though the OS ( windows 10 1703 64-bit) see it as a hard drive attached to the sata controller, i still have the option of ejecting it and when i look at the policies i have both the removal policy ( quick removal or better performance in the top section) and write caching policy options in the bottom section.

This caddy is used with Lenovo T440P. The caddy came well packaged. It is exact snug fit. The plastic cover looks as if it was part of the laptop originally. I personally like the LEDs. I think this feature is a nice touch and looks good. For those concerned about power consumption... Really?!
