I've read all of the books about Ben Hogan over the years. This one is up at the top! Tim Scott gives great revues of the man and his Love for the game as well as his Love for the public. He was very firm with his employees at the Ben Hogan Company but always rewarded each and everyone of them for a good job done. I was also impressed with how much he did to help others on and off the course. His donations given at his time of death was very impressive as well. He was the most dedicated man to the game that we will ever come across. After his car wreck and his come back he made was very impressive. People can say what they want about the man, but I believe he had the best game of all time players and a big heart for the public as well. I would recommend this book to anyone who Loved the man and Loves the game of golf. He will inspire every type of player from high handicapper to low to never give up and always give it your all when playing the game that he so Loved.

Wonderful book, especially if you have other Hogan books
I almost gave it five stars (and if you already have a ton of Hogan books it is five stars) but if this is not the definitive book. (BTW - no one in their right mind should have just one or two books on Hogan. Get as many as you can. He was a complex and almost superhuman individual). If, as you should, have a number of Hogan books this one is a winner. It provides a lot of things about Hogan that I've never seen elsewhere. Part of that is because the author worked with Hogan at his clubmaking business. Did you know that Hogan, without being told, sensed that a prototype driver was 1/32 of an inch too long? Incredible. The book's format is a series of anecdotes that emphasis a particular myth, such as Hogan not caring about others. One thing the author does do is to cast a wide net for source material. I have a fairly extensive golf library, but nowhere near the sources used for this book. I've already ordered some older books based upon the references in this one. You are warned :-)

I had great respect for Mr
This was a fasinating book about a golf legend that one hears about referencing active golf professionals as having Hoganisms. As well as commentators may reference Ben Hogan's golf legend and legacies. But I knew little about the man behind these legends and myths of golf. This work breaks them down and shows you the man behind these legends and the man himself; what motivated him and drove his game. The details of his tactical and operational approach to the game of golf and course management. It also displays the positive contributions to the development of modern golf and equipement utilized today. I had great respect for Mr. Hogan as a professional golfer but this work gave me a deeper respect for the man Mr. Hogan was and the legacies he left imprinted on the game of golf.

Not the most exciting book I've ever read. It was a very slow read.

My kind of biography
I love golf, love a great story, and love learning what makes great people great in their particular area of expertise. This book is right up my alley.Whether or not you're familiar with the "myths" or the "man" when you pick up this book for the first time, I think you'll have a greater appreciation for Ben Hogan when you put it down.Tim Scott weaves together well-told anecdotes and stories to give the reader a glimpse behind the curtain at a brilliant golfer and complicated man. Hogan's story is told with honesty, familiarity, and candor, which all biographies should be. But it's written with the respect and knowledge of a person who clearly new Ben Hogan - something not all biographies can be.If you're a golf fan, a fan of stories, or a fan of studying greatness, grab this book and read it.

Very interesting and enjoyable read for true fans of Mr. Hogan. Contains a good amount of anecdotes and information I had not read previously. Interesting photos throughout, especially the ones from the sales meetings. The editing could have been tighter. Lots of missing commas that made the reading cumbersome at times. Repetitive info from chapter to chapter should have been edited out as well.

A must read
A fascinating look into a great man's life and psyche.Hogan was able to accomplish more than anyone else in life as well in golf. A man of extraordinary discipline and purpose, one can not help but learn and admire this unique man.Although this story can be repetitive at times it shares with the reader a side of W. Ben Hogan which few people knew.I loved going on this adventure and would recommend same to anyone with a like interest in exploring greatness and another ability to conquer significant life obstacles
