Gorgeous book. High quality images. This is one of those purchases that combine artistry with interesting details about the curious and amazing accents called feathers. Definitely a keeper for my art shelf.

I love feathers, love collecting and drawing them. I was seeking a book that would enable me to more accurately identify the ones I find and to offer me more information on their function and structure. But I did not want a book that was too simplistic or one that was geared to the more serious ornithologist. This book turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. Tekiela writes with brevity and clarity in an engaging conversational style that made reading his book a pleasure, while also making it easy for me to retain the information it imparted which was perfectly relevant to my level of interest and knowledge. I was also pleased and surprised to find that most of the birds he references are those common to New England, birds that I see just about every day. Now I can look at them and draw their feathers that I'm lucky to find with a deeper and more informed appreciation. I just ordered and I'm looking forward to receiving Bird Nests.

What a joy to own this book. Sometimes I just like to look at the pictures and sometimes I like to read it to learn about the birds. The author gives so much information and it’s unlike any book I’ve ever read. I highly recommend this book.

I enjoyed reading this book and learned a lot about the properties of feathers, but I was hoping for feather identification, and that is not available in this book.

This is a must have if you are into birds and/or collecting feathers. The information is amazing, interesting,and a great guide to identify which bird...and to get additional details. A new hobby for me...this book is filled with answers to all my questions!

Feathers have a spiritual meaning for me and this was a great book to find to learn about each birds feathers. Such large and colorful illustrations. I highly recommend for bird lovers or anyone that has interest in feathers for any reason.
