Works great, even in my metal door
At first it wasn't working very reliably on my metal door, I went back and made the opening an extra 1/2" larger, leaving just two metal tabs of the door to anchor the trim. I only did this on the outside/exit side of the door, didnt touch the inside and its touching the frame of the sureflap and it works 100% of the time.Try this before dropping another $20 on the metal door frame, I really only think you need that for glass.Didnt cut any extra of the foam core of the door either so it stayed snug, used expanding foam insulation spray before putting the trim on. Make sure you use the expanding foam for vinyl windows, the regular foam will put pressure on the sureflap as it dries and could cause the flap to not flap because its being squeezed. That regular construction foam will bend window and door frames as it dries and your door wont close. At first we used some tape to hold the flap open so they would just use the hole for a while and the sure flap would click and they would freak out at first. Then we let the door down and used some tape stuck to the door so when they would walk up we would lift the door from the inside and then let it down on them so they could get used to it on their back as they slid through. Really only did that for one cat, the other just started following the first one.Watching them go through from the back is amusing, the fat cat looks like a seal with its legs both sticking straight out as she pulls herself through with her front paws. I was very surprised how fast they got used to it. Good deal and very functional, cant believe how well the chip reader works. Were still on first set of batteries, with two cats using the door 20+ times a day after 3 months.

No more freeloaders!
It’s easy to install with the right tools. Probably should have a drill and a jig saw. Easy to program. It took a few days for my cats to get used to the clicking sound it makes when unlocking. I guess I don’t have to worry about the neighbors cats and the fat possum coming in my house and eating all the cat food.

Works good.
It took several steps to train the cat but with a little patience everything worked out.I started leaving the flapper open with some clear tape and coaxing our cat in and out through the door with treats. Second I taped the locking mechanism silver flapper would move easily either direction, few weeks our kitty was coming in and out no problem. The last step was the natural locking mechanism with her collar fob to open it.This took about 2 months but it's well worth it. The raccoons and one skunk did not hesitate and scared the crap out of us a few nights.

It is not dependable and easily malfunctions - do not purchase!!!!!
I'm very disappointed with this product. I installed it last March 2023 and it is not dependable, first it keeps disconnecting from my internet and I have to spend so much time trying to get it connected again it becomes a burden. Second, after about six months the gray interior catch gets stuck and won't pop back up. I have it connected to the Cat Hub and a Wifi extender, both within 3 feet of the cat door and that still didn't make a difference with the connection and my Wifi works perfectly for my other devices. I also have to use expensive Duracell/Eveready batteries (per manufacturer) and they seem to need replacing every 2 to 3 weeks, and these high-end batteries do not correct the problems. I have tried to trouble shoot both problems and haven't gotten anywhere with the manufacture. Even sent them 2 different videos - per their request, still no help from them. Unfortunately, my cats are the ones suffering, they either can't get out or can't get back in when they want too. I never know when I'm leaving the house if my cats are going to be keep hostage inside or locked out by this worthless cat door. I would. not recommend purchasing this product. Crappy performance and worthless customer support. I'm interested if anyone can recommend a better product for me to purchase?

The batteries doesnt last as long as it should be
After using this for about 3 months. I really love this.PROS: I particularly love the wifi feature. I was able to monitor my kitty while I was out of town. I can verify this with the indoor camera. It was a bit difficult at first to train my cat to use the door but he figured it out eventually. The door works as it should be. The curfew feature was really nice so my cat will not be able to go out after a certain time. It was also nice to be able to monitor my cat's activity while I am on vacation. Now the CONS: I need to change the AA batteries after one month's used. I decided to use rechargeable batteries but I have to recharge the batteries almost everyday. It seems like it requires a lot of JUICE just to run the door. Anyway the batteries didnt last 6 months as the company claimed.

Sureflap and hub work fine.
Door takes 5 or more seconds before it opens. Two cats have learned the door so far. When another comes home at night when we call her we make sure to put her through the door so she learns it. Order another sureflap door fore between house and garage. Looks like the app lets us just take current cat that in the system and drag them into new door. I wish they would update app to manually enter microchip number instead of having to capture feral cat and put through the door for system to learn cats microchip number.

Worth the cost!
Amazing! Love the dual scan feature to allow the cats in and out while keeping one inside. I purchased a similar microchip door before buying this one but returned it because it was not easy to instal and program like this door was.

latch noise freaks out the cats
clicking noise of the latch unlocking is pretty loud. We have two cats and it scares them. We are only into the 3rd day of training them to use this door. I hope they get used to the noise and get used to using the door!
