This book jumps in cannonball style to drench you with a tidal wave of information to make you into a bad-a** trainer.
Looking for a solid and robust primer to become a better trainer? Looking for a book that has more information regarding the practice of training to improve your own training skills? Do people snooze and snore while attending your training? Or do they listen with eager anticipation to every word of your training but fail to implement any lasting change once they are back on the job? Do you struggle with technology and wonder how to harness its usefulness to enhance training? Then Elaine Biech’s book in the “Dummy” series, Training and Development for Dummies” is for you. This book is a manual for trainers, regardless of whether you are a professional in the training field or you are a subject matter expert (SME – the 18 page Index says you can find information on SME’s on pages 14, 47, 50, 72, 108, 147, and 211) who does occasional training. It contains helpful information that trainers can incorporate into all aspects of their training to ensure not only the best possible content but also the best delivery and design of training to achieve the best possible results that produce lasting change, using the myriad of possible tools, tips, wisdom, and techniques presented here. This is an A to Z manual for training that not only provides enough helpful information comparable to the Super Bowl viewing audience but also does so in a way that excites the reader to start using this material in their training. This is not a book that dives head-first into the content: it jumps in cannonball style to drench you with a tidal wave of information to make you into a bad-a** trainer. As a professional in my agency's Staff Development & Training section, this book will always be within arm's reach.

This book is the one I recommend (and use myself) to other trainers not only as ...
I am a former college teacher of 18 years and am now on a second career as a corporate trainer for a global company. I think I know something about teaching, learning and developing people in a wide variety of settings. This book is the one I recommend (and use myself) to other trainers not only as they start their careers in training and development but have it available for reference. I have read this book several times as we all need to remind ourselves of the details of teaching and learning. Great Book! I actually wore out the first edition and was pleased to find a newer version was available.

If you want your audience engaged in a creative way, buy this book!!!
This is an excellent book even for trainers with several years of delivery experience! This book helped me in my preparation for the CPLP skills exam- my area of expertise was training delivery. Such an engaging and easy read! One thing you will definately recognize is that Ms. Biech has tons of experience being in front of small and large audiences and she knows how to manage her audience perfectly... In my opinion this book should be called : "The Essentials of Training and Development for The Creative Facilitator". BTW, I just passed the CPLP so I am one happy camper :)

This is THE BIBLE if you want to be a Trainer!
If you want to be in the training profession, you have to buy this book. I have met the author and like all the For Dummies books, she is the top expert in her field. This book covered everything I learned in a year's worth of classes. You MUST add this to your library and then be prepared to highlight and dog ear the pages.
