My 2nd Skil circular saw, may it last as long as the 1st did.
I bought this because my former Skil saw, purchased around 2001, died mid job on me while I was building new kitchen cabinets. (The motor burned out) Since I liked that saw overall I was perfectly willing to try a newer model. This one cuts like a hot knife through butter and it's easy to keep it aimed. (I did opt for a 40 tooth finishing blade vs the 24 tooth blade included with the saw.) I did have to read the booklet to figure out the laser but that's because the old one didn't have a laser. It activates so I'll try it on my next cut. The cord is plenty long enough even if I do have to use it with an extension cord due to the design of my 1907 era house. So far I don't regret this purchase. I'll update this review if that changes.

Good quality just like I remember Skil to be!
I agree with all the reviews posted. I owned a Skil back in the early 70s, and it was a work horse so when I went looking for a new one, and I saw Skil, and that the ratings were so good I decided to purchase this one. No disappointments regarding the power, and the construction of the saw. The only item I'm not crazy about is the base adjustment lever. Very hard to local without actually eyeballing it. And trying to unlock it is cumbersum. Aside from that I love it.

Best Affordable Circular Saw
5 stars due to this saw being able to hang with the big guys. It’s pretty durable and it’s been roughed up. You can adjust angles and depth of blade. Don’t have to worry about battery life since it’s corded. You can also attach a rip guide to be able to cut strips, the laser kinda helps but you gotta learn how to use it as a guide, not a big fan but I’m sure there’s a trick to it. It will complete the work you need to do. Ideal for DIY projects, framing, and even some pro duty projects.

Mid quality saw
Saw worked well but was hoping the sled would have been beefier.

Awesome. A steal
I was Leary due to price point. I have many saws and the rest of them are dewalt and other high end saws. This things kicks butt. Lots of power. Great guide marks. It just became my favorite hand saw. I did upgrade the blade to more teeth per inch.

Light, powerful, and accurate
I am a weekend warrior homeowner, so this is used for home improvement projects. It's the third circular saw I have owned in my lifetime, and I like it the best. My old one is not accurate any more and I only trust it to cut up stuff for the trash. I bought this one last summer to build a porch/deck and used it almost every day for a couple of months. I love it. It's nice and light, the laser line is accurate and super useful, it's pretty quiet, and it just fits in my hands well. I resisted buying a cordless saw, as my projects are all within reach of a power outlet, and this gives this saw plenty of power. I cut countless joists, composite deck boards, and trim pieces without a lot of fatigue because it is so light, and the rubbery handles give a good grip. Even though it is light it feels hefty and sturdy and well made. I was able to quickly and accurately adjust the depth and miter angle. I recommend.

First-timer thinks this saw cuts the lumber
This is my first circular saw, so I can’t compare this to other products. I can however compare it to my Skil miter saw, and this saw actually cuts cleaner in terms of how smooth the cuts come out. I LOVE the laser line on this model! It makes is super easy to ensure i’m cutting in a straight line with or without a straight edge. The saw feels balanced in my hand, and I don’t feel like i’m in danger while using it (though I always cut very carefully). The only thing that was difficult initially was changing the height of the cut…. There is a lever that you’re supposed to pull to make the adjustment. On my saw, the lever was almost impossible to pull, and when I gave it some force it finally gave way but caused my hand to hit another part of the saw with a good amount of impact (which hurt).Overall I think this is a great 1st saw.
