This cash drawer is made out of stainless steel body and the inside is very sturdy and well built. In case you have a problem with connecting it to register or the printer for the automatic open ; the main culprit is the( ethernet cable supplied) change it or buy a different one and it will work.

I recently opened business and I got an Android tablet to use with the Square POS system. Majority of Square POS systems, I've noticed are being used hand in hand with the Apple iPad. So I had to do quite a bit of research to find out which cash drawer and receipt printer was compatible with the Android. This cash drawer is great with an Android and can be used along with a USB receipt printer. The Star TSP 100 series in particular. It came with a pair of keys to use when one wants to open the drawer manually and also came with the appropriate cable necessary to connect with the USB receipt printer. For this cash drawer/receipt printer set up to be used with an Android, a USB on the go adapter is needed. I got the inateck card reader HUB.

Easy to install

I got the AGP model they sell here on Amazon for about $10 more a few years back for my first Square Stand setup. I saw this was the drawer that Square now recommends on their site, and the price on Amazon was even better than the first drawer I bought, so I figured what the heck, I'll just get this one. The drawer seems to be built well, HOWEVER the inside of the drawer, which they don't show you a picture of in the description is ridiculous. It has 8 slots for coins, so that means each slot is half the size of a normal coin slot. It makes absolutely no sense who in their right mind would design that. I've been in business for 20 years and have had many cash registers and this is the first time I've ever seen anything so crazy. Also the clamps that hold the bills in place are made of metal, which you'd think would be better since they'd be more sturdy than all the plastic clamps you've used in registers for the last 30 years, but the design of them is strange and makes it a pain to pull them up. I wouldn't recommend this drawer if you've ever used another cash register before in your lifetime because it will just annoy you.

We tried with a cheaper knock-off cash-drawer; could not even open the thing. This one came, we plugged it in and it works like a charm. Smooth operation with the printer and Square software. Stay away from the knock-offs, buy this cash-drawer and save yourself some time and frustration.

Beware. Despite the Q&A talking about using this cash drawer via USB with a Square Stand, it can NOT be used this way. This cash drawer has only an ethernet (?) connection allowing it to be connected with a Square Stand indirectly through a compatible printer.Unfortunately, I found this out after the 30 day return policy on my purchase has passed. Also unfortunately, this seller (despite being very polite) was firm in refusing to let me exchange my purchase for a cash drawer I could actually use.
