Honey Keeper Beehive 10 Deep Frame Kit with Foundations for Replacement Langstroth Beekeeping

I usually order my beekeeping supplies from Mann Lake. That being said, I completed my most recent order with them forgetting to add on 10 deep frames and foundation. I didn’t want to have to pay for shipping with them (you have to spend over $100 for free shipping and I had just spent way over that), so I turned to Amazon to see what they have to offer. This seemed to be the best fit. I always buy unassembled, so this was no issue for me. It was the same cost as what I’d spend at Mann Lake, it had free shipping, came with nails, and arrived in just a couple days, beating my Mann Lake order. Sure, the foundation is unwaxed, but I always buy unwaxed anyway because I prefer to paint on a coat with my own beeswax. I also like the black foundation because I find it easier to spot eggs. The nails may be a little too wide, but for the most part I was able to assemble quickly without issues. I will continue to buy from Mann Lake in the future, but it’s good to know there’s comparable options out there should I once again find myself in a pinch.

These frames were well cut and save me time.

These were easy to assemble and the pine used for the frames is clear grade. No splitting occurred during nailing because I predrilled the holes. They fit perfectly in my 8 frame supers ,that I built, with two frames left over.The foundations are NOT wax coated. You will have to wax them or wait a few weeks longer for your bees to build it out. Both options are ok with me as I bought these particularly because they are black. I have been reading that bees actually prefer the black color as opposed to white foundation sheets. Time will tell.

A box (1of10) was lost in shipping and they are replacing it. They are good at customer support. On the description, they don't say 'waxed coated foundation', but the photo online that I used to compare with other frames looks like the plastic had a wax coating on it. My only disappointment here is that I should have read the description *more carefully*. Lucky I had some wax coated plastic foundation left over from last year. The brass nails for the frames are a bit thick and cause splitting. Be sure to use lots of glue. I got what I paid for, but it was not as high quality like I had received from their products in the past. But I have to keep reminding myself - the bees don't care.

Easy assembly

I have a mixed review. The wood is good quality and precisely cut. The frames however are NOT assembled! The plastic foundation seems as though it will work OK BUT it clearly isn't Rite-Cell foundation. It has zero wax coating on the foundation and Rite-Cell's trademark breakaway corners are not there. In spite of some clear deception going on, these are still an excellent value, I think. You would probably be putting on more wax anyway and I have paid more for just unassembled frames kits with no foundation at all. I'm used to assembling frames and I have the ability to wax my own foundation. If you can't do or don't want the extra work...look somewhere else.
