Theses door knockers are beautiful and are a must for every :: Lodge. The price is well worth it. The knockers are solid metal. The only item missing was screws for mounting.

It's a nice door knocker
Installing the bottom screw is a bit problematic, and is very bright brass. However, is a nice door knocker. Wish it was louder/deeper in sound. More tap, than knock.

When these first started popping up they claimed to have been discovered in and old former foundry in the Detroit area related to the the Automobile Industry with limited numbers available. Now that several years later they have never dried up and are widely available ,even on Amazon, I must conclude that somebody is getting these made overseas. I have purchased a few of these as well as the other 2 brass pieces offered by these people and they are of Lodge quality.

More decorative than a useful tool.
Small, cute, nice look & nice weight, but as a usable knocker not a very practical design. You would think “how hard can it be? Grab the end and knock!” Well… not quite. The hammer on the knocking arm is beveled and the swing on the arm is SO short, 1 inch, that on your first use the arm is ripped from your two finger grip ( that’s all the bigger the area is - so your really pinching instead of gripping) and your first “knock” is more of a metallic clatter. Not at all what we were hoping for. One of our men is going to try and grind down the upper part of the arm between the hinge pin and the base to see if we can bit a bit more of an unobstructed swing to the arm. Going to add some knurled surface the the grabbing hammer sides so you can hold onto it a bit better.Maybe it just my age but was expecting more for almost 80 bucks a toss. If your looking for a serious knock - look elsewhere.

Perfect!
Solid, beautiful, and a great addition to my home. I would recommend this to anyone looking to display symbolism of their craft commitment.

Ok for what they are
Bought a pair for my lodge-they are cheap cast metal(don’t know how long they will last being rapped on frequently)But not bad.Ours we’re failing at 100 plus years-don’t think these will last that long lol
