This is a really great addition to my home!
The reviews were quite mixed on this product and I was a bit hesitant to order it. I couldn't really find anything else that seemed to suit my needs, and for the price, I went ahead and bought...and I'm SO glad I did! I love this piece of furniture! My main concern was the assembly. Some of the reviews indicated it took forever to put together. I was thinking of my poor husband having to do this;) ~ then I read some reviews that said it was fine to put together. My husband did it in about 30 minutes. No issues! All the parts and pieces were there and the shelf looks great! I had a minor issue with one of the wicker baskets. It was totally dented in on both sides of the basket (where the handles are...it figures! Couldn't even turn it around so no one could see it). The box was no damaged at all in shipping, so it was a quality issue (wherever it was manufactured). Contacted OJ Commerce and the responded immediately about the problem. They required pictures to see the damage. After I sent pictures...it was downhill as far as communication. I had to contact them at least six times to even find out what was going on. I didn't know if they received the pictures, if they needed additional info, etc. Finally, a response back saying they had everything they needed and it would be 7-10 before I got my replacement basket. I got it yesterday and we are good:)There were some concerns about the unit being solid wood. Amazon does change descriptions based on feedback. When I purchased the unit, it did not state anything about SOLID wood. For that matter, they didn't say it was particle board either. The unit we received has a solid wood frame. The shelves seem to be particle board. It would benefit Amazon to actually indicate what it is made from.I totally love this piece and it works great in out Three Season Room. We are using it for towels, bug spray and suntan lotion (pool and deck usage). I'm sure I'll find another use for it once that season has passed!

Extremely inferior quality bookcase!
Okay, so I didn't pay much for this bookcase. But even considering that, this is an extremely inferior quality product. I've put together a LOT of ready-to-assemble furniture in my day, and I consider myself fairly adept at doing so. But this bookcase is ridiculous. So what's wrong with you you ask?It actually is fairly attractive, as long as you don't look too closely. The top, which is the first piece you unpack, is actual quite substantial and is very attractive. I thought I was off to a good start. But then I started unpacking the rest of of - the shelves, sides and the back panel. I'm used to the back panel being just a thin piece of veneer or particle board, but with this bookcase the shelves and sides are too! Oh, and the back is in three flimsy pieces, joined with a plastic routing strip. I knew I was in trouble by the time I finished unpacking. But, always the optimist I persisted on.The shelves and sides are held together with plastic dowels, and only a couple of screws. And you can't use a normal screw driver because it requires an Allen wrench (included), but the screws are so close to the sides you can't turn the Allen wrench all the way around, making it very difficult and time consuming to screw the pieces together. But the screws and the dowels also don't hold it together tightly - they leave noticeable gaps between the pieces. The instructions (or picture book, I should say - typical though), are kind enough to recommend that you have two people assembling the unit. I can recommend you take their suggestion! I did it by myself, but only after maneuvering it around and leaning pieces up against a sofa, and then it never really worked so well.So given the flimsy construction and veneer/particle board shelves and sides, I now have a reasonably attractive bookcase (from a distance), but I don't dare put much on it. Fortunately it's for a guest room where I really don't plan to put too much on it, but if I had purchase it for a real bookcase or storage unit, I would be really out of luck. I probably should return it, but you never really know how it will end up until you put it together, and I simply don't have the energy nor do I care enough to take it apart and ship it back. However, I did totally waste my money. Do not buy this regardless of how attractive you think it is!!!!!
