Blockchain: Blueprint for a New Economy Paperback – 10 Mar. 2015

I'm relatively non-technical, but was able to get my head around the Blockchain and Bitcoin concepts with this book. Great read.

I have always admired O'Reilly's use of animals for their covers but this is a genuinely unfortunate choice. One simply cannot resist the temptation to trot out the witticism "A point here, a point there and a lot of bull in between". Fortunately for the witticism, there's a good deal of truth in this particular subject. While this is a competently researched and written summary (based on a dissertation?), the author does become overly enthusiastic about the possibilities of the technology; one would not be all that surprised to hear that it cured warts, dropsy and the putrid throat. There is a reasonable critical balance towards the end, however. The book does fill a useful gap for anyone needing a comprehensive briefing as well as a cautionary feeling for the fervour that surrounds the subject.

Good content, and well researched overview of the field, spoilt by writing style. Very difficult to read in many places.

Excellent introduction to the business impact this amazing and complex technology could have.

Had trouble following how blockchain changed the way things could be done or what could be done. Jumped from one example to the next without really illuminating anything. If your happy with words like "effectuating" and "illiberty" then you may be happier with this than I was.

Much like any other tech book, it was out of date before it even hit print.Alright as a primer, but things have moved on considerably so not worth looking at now.

If you're not looking for a technical diagnosis of blockchain but a history of and where it may possibly head this is the book for you.Thoroughly enjoyed it, on to the next one
