Really surprising quality - easy to modify!
Paulownia wood is a REALLY clever idea for these shelves. It's relatively very strong (I would never expect these shelves to sag in the middle) and it weighs NOTHING. it's uncanny, almost like balsa wood. But it's a pretty well known wood for construction where weight matters a lot as well as strength. As for the shelves, they are quite small, but not so small as to be unusable. You won't be putting big things on them, but they also have a party trick - at only 4 inches deep, you can literally just buy a plank of nice dimensional 1/2 inch by 4 inch hardwood and make these as long as you want (more than 18-24 inches and I'd start adding extra brackets to prevent the wood from sagging) but I noticed that some beautiful planks of mahogany I had fit perfectly, so I'm buying more of these just to make some more custom sized shelves. As for putting them together, the wood isn't pre-drilled, but this stuff is easy as heck to screw the supplied screws into, and the side benefit is that you can adjust the "look" by in-setting them. The first set I did, I put all of the brackets inboard (not screwed in at the absolute edge) by two centimeters. it looked great on the longer shelf, good on the middle, and too much on the short. So if you like the "little bit of wood overhanging" look, I would recommend 2 centimeters for the long shelf, 1.5 for the mid, and 1 centimeter for the short. The "relative" look should be great. As for mounting, couldn't be easier. Drill a hole (I forget the size, but it's a bit smaller than 1/4 inch) and insert the anchor, gently tap it flush with a hammer (I just used a piece of the cardboard box between the hammer and the wall to avoid marring it) and screw in the long screws.A word of warning though, the screws are typical horrible Chinesium (I do not understand why everything seems to come with such bad hardware when good screws would add like five cents to the product) and while they do the job just fine for the wall anchors, were I wanted one of these shelves lined up with a stud. I could quite literally feel the screw itself TWISTING in the wood as I drove it in. The shelves are not meant for heavy objects and I only put my framed diploma on the largest shelf, so I'm not worried about it coming loose. The only quality control I didn't like, which doesn't really matter, is the spot weld on the bottom of the bracket holding the whole thing together looks kind of cheap. Again, it's barely visible if at all, and you'll NEVER notice unless you're looking straight at it from six inches away, but if I had to nitpick, that's my sole complaint. And if you plan on driving these into studs, get a pack of 1.5 inch #8 or #10 pan-head screws from the hardware store. I was genuinely worried I might shear that screw while driving it in.Overall though, outrageous value for money, and these look and feel very, very nice. I am ordering two more as we speak (and checking out the rest of this brand's shelving that has the same style. It's nice they have different kinds of shelves that use the same style, will be really cool for the variety if the quality for them is just as nice.)

Surprised
These shelves are very cute. You have to know what you're doing, to put them up. I mean, they're not that hard, but but you don't want them off. Level and they are cute would buy again

Look and work great
I bought these shelves to hold cat nonsense above the litter box (litter deodorizer, litter bags, cat treats, catnip spray etc). The wood doesn't feel super sturdy, but because I wasn't putting heavy stuff on it, I didn't really worry about it. Aesthetically, they're pretty cute, but I wish I'd installed them small to large, centered, instead of offsetting the shelves and sizes. I think because it's hidden in a small cubby next to a cabinet, the artsy thing didn't really work in the space. But that's just my opinion (I tried to arrange them like the photos on Amazon). Now for the fun part, installation. If...and please pay attention, because this is VERY important...IF you have lath and plaster walls, IMMEDIATELY go and buy sturdy screws. These strip incredibly easily...like in a split second. If you have drywall, like normal people should, you'll be fine with what's provided. I'm a pretty handy chick, and installation should seriously have taken only ten minutes, but, because I have a crappy old house with plaster, it took over an hour. I did have outside forces interrupting me, like my cat knocking everything off of my desk, including my tools, a shelf and phone, several injuries (burned the bejeezus out of my fingers on a hot drill bit, after trying to force it to get the screw into the wall, and I may or may not have taken a little tumble off of the ladder too). There was also lots of walking around screaming obscenities--apologies to my neighbors. Because I was too impatient to drive to the store to get better screws, I literally screwed them in using needle nose pliers. Once they were up, like I said, they looked great, I'm just sharing the ridiculous challenges for those who might have plaster walls. Overall I would recommend these for small bits and pieces, the sizes were perfect for me and I would buy them again. :)

These were a tad bit smaller than I expected when I purchased them (my bad, I should have measured!) but I’ve had them nearly 5 years in my bathroom and they e held up great! and they are super cute.
