This pump is straightforward simple and very well built - but with the sloppiest tolerances. Perfect for a solid foundation for a good pump, if you are mechanically inclined and would be interested in improving on it before use. These types of things are my favorite, bad enough to be inexpensive - yet good enough in all the right ways, that with a little improvement, it could be made really nice.If you just plug it in, and use it - you might rate it poorly. The wiring is not very thick for DC like maybe 18 gauge, so running full speed on, I imagine that would max out the ampacity of that size wire - but they have to keep costs down, so I understand, and it's perfectly suitable for my use, because I put an electronic motor speed controller ahead of it, so it runs only about 1/3 intended speed, and third energy load, so this Guage wire works for my task, if you wanted to run it full bore, you should probably keep on a strict duty cycle. The biggest issues were the fittings - I can 100% confirm that both inlet and outlet are 3/4 NPT . - But the threads are cut super duper loose, fittings rattle all around, barely catch, and almost fall out, and I tried several, certainly the loosest of threads, but it's for sure 3/4 NPT...No amount of pipe dope or Teflon tape is gonna seal those as is. Good news, the solution is simple, JB weld in reducing bushings to 1/2 NPT and problem solved, now it takes regular yellow Teflon tape and seals well no problem..The Best part is that it has a steel impeller head, Cast Iron housing and a simple internal overpressure bypass valve, a simple relatively large motor, and just 2 seals and 2 real bearings. Very nice, where it counts. It does have Nylon impeller blades - but every one you find would, probably or even worse plastic head or other internals, but I was going for a more extra durable, yet slower moving motor, so I cut my own Upgraded steel impeller blades to replace the included stock Nylon ones, it is now more robust but you couldn't probably run all steel at the full speed, I am run at a reduced speed, and full metal everywhere it can be, is durable for me.Just a simple largish brushed motor, 2 bearings, and 2 o- ring seals, and jb welded the bushings in.I fabricated a mate to an old CPU cooling heatsink and topped it with a dc computer fan to push away any heat from the now all steel impeller, it is running medium slow, it feels durable and reliable. If you just open the box and use it, you would expect maybe some issues, but if you are handy and like building stuff from close to good enough stuff, at an affordable price point, then this is a great platform and starting point.A very good but imperfect pump gets 5/5 - from me- with some effort you could truly craft it into something special for your project.

Would buy again!
This diesel pump was perfect for filling my skid loader after each day pushing snow. No problems with it, and going to use it again this year.

Nice flow rate.
I bought this pump to build a fuel polishing skid. This would require the addition of a fuel filter on the pump outlet. The problem I ran into id the pump inlet and outlet threads are not tapered pipe threads. They seem to be straight cut pipe threads. With their O-ringed hose fittings this isn't an issue as the inlet and outlet are made to accept the O-rings. The pump has 3/4" inlet and outlet and my filter has 1" inlet and outlet. A 3" X 3/4" nipple and a 3/4" X 1" bushing allowed me to connect the the filter. The problem came when using another bushing on the filter outlet to connect the hose. The O-ring will not seal on a standard pipe bushing. It just squeezes out the O-ring. I finally found a filter installation kit at Tractor Supply that has bushings designed to allow an O-ring to seat. This bushing has beveled opening that the O-ring goes in so it won't squeeze out. This kit was an additional $29 for a nipple and 2 bushings but I don't know how you would find that bushing anywhere else. I mounted the pump and filter on a hand cart for appliances and boxes and used the bottom shelf to carry the battery. Once it was set up it worked flawlessly. I ran the pump for no more than 30 minutes as per the manual with a cool down period in between pumping over 1000 gallons. Now that project is done this pump will be handy as a fuel transfer pump and filling mu my tractor.

It pumps fast.
This fuel pump was an awesome addition to my RV! If It should run low on fuel at a camp site, i have a 15-gallon tank that is carried as emergency diesel fuel. It is of good quality and works well.

Pump fills my boat with smoke!
I received the pump, at first glance it looks well built, I did notice the small Guage wire leading to the positive and negative clamps for the 12 volt battery. I thought we'll they must have tested this pump before going to production and selling it in the open market?Apparently not, I was circulating a/c coil cleaner through my boats a/c unit coils supply and return through the pump from a 5 gallon bucket. In less than 20 minutes smoke was billowing out of my engine compartment on my boat. I killed the power, as smoke filled my boat with electrical burning wire smell and the black foam floor pad melting from the melting wires.I removed the pump and rubber pad and put them outside, thank God I was ready to jump in to remove the pump, if not my boat would have burned and sank.I am not an electrical engineer but the Guage of the wires for this pump are obviously undersized.Asking this pump is built right now, it's a major fire hazard.

This pump works great.
I just made one change on the polarity of the power to the pump, and now it works just fine. It quickly filled my tractors tank. I had read several reviews and followed their advice, now the pump quickly pulls the fuel up and through the pump. I hope it continues to work.
