Tac cHef knife
this knife is super big and very spicy with and amazing top liner cross bar lock which I barely see on knives that are sub 100 dollars. This knife for the price is great and comparable to the cold steel voyager line up. It will make a great chef knife if that's your thing but this would also be great for tactical purposes. The lock Is a bit stiff but will break in over time and become easier to open. Also the look of this knifes g10 scales look really nice and feel really good too.

Great knife
I have been looking for this knife for many years. A folder, with a thin blade, designed solely for kitchen work. I love knives and have high standards. This knife achieves it intended purpose beautifully. The geometry of the whole knife is wonderful. The blade geometry chops and slices beautifully. The blade has resistance to opening by accident. The button lock works great. The construction is simple and sturdy. The g10 is grippy even covered in fats and oils.It is perfect for traveling. I bought 2 and will probably buy more.Very, very well done folding kitchen blade.Edit: I just got back from a week fishing in Sarasota. I used this both the small and large versions of this knife. I made ceviche, salads, prepared fresh fish, and a lot of other snacks and veggie trays for my family. I also used the blades to chop up fish carcasses to be used as chum and bait chunks. I purposely cut through heads, spines, tails to test the durability of the blade. These knives are excellent. They handle like Japanese knives like santokus and gyutos. After a week of chopping I steeled the blade and stropped it. It still shaves hair. There is zero edge damage and no flat spots. The vg-10 heat treat is spot on. The blade is tough enough to chop fish carcasses and not chip and yet still retain a hair popping edge after a week of heavy use.FINALLY, a great folding chef knife for traveling. Keep the new models coming Tacray, I'll try every one!

Outstanding little camp cook knife.
I was looking at a compact, dedicated food prep knife for backpacking and this is exactly what I was hoping for.Bigger than I imagined, but still compact and feels good in the hand.I'm a lefty, so I find the button orientation is absolutely perfect for me.It is accessible for opening and closing, but also out of the way in any hand position I could try. This is not the case when using it right handed, but I still didn't have any issues with accidentally depressing it.Blade was passibly sharp out of the box, but it only took a few minutes of sharpening to get it shaving sharp.Sharpening was a breeze due to the edge geometry and blade profile.Cleaning was no problem, which was something I was worried about with a folder.Cutting with it for kitchen tasks has been excellent, though I admit I have only tried it in the kitchen thus far.So far, I am very pleased with this knife and will probably buy a few more for the rest of the family's camp kits.I'll see about updating this review after a few camping trips and see how it performs in the field.

Big
Big and very sharp.Be careful this is not a normal button lock knife. It sticks.Almost cut my finger off. It's made fairly well for being what it is though- A budget folding kitchen knife.I carry it around in my back pocket as a last resort self defense item. For the price it's worth it.I would buy it again.

Quality, Recommended
I absolutely love the shape of this knife--both the blade and the handle. The way it is designed allows full contact with what you are cutting. The knife came very sharp right out of the box. VG10 is a great stainless steel and should hold up well without needing frequent sharpening; it's a steel used in many Japanese chef knives. The handle, with G10 scales, is comfortable and easy to get a full grip. The cutout at the spine makes it easy for one-hand opening. The lock is actually a hidden liner lock, with the button (right side only) used for disengaging the lock. I think both right-hand and left-hand users will find it a true ambidextrous folding knife. It looks like there are bronze washers at the pivot (just by sight: I have not taken it apart yet). There is no pocket clip, but it does come with a very nice pouch to hold the knife for pocket carry or drawer stowage.Despite its size, I would have no problem carrying this or stowing it in a backpack or an urban carry pack. I normally do not use any of my folding knives for food preparation, simply because I don't enjoy having to clean them after use. But this one is different for me. I doubt that I will use it in my kitchen, but I wouldn't hesitate to take it with me on a camping trip for use in food prep. Could you EDC this (if your municipality allowed it)? I don't see why not.Bottom line: Great quality design, good looking, best overall geometry for cutting (anything!), and versatile for many different knife-use scenarios. Anything you would use a liner-lock folding knife for, you could comfortably use this for.

Impressive travel knife with decent ergonomics and a sharp blade!
Super impressed with this folding chef knife! It won't see much use in my own kitchen but I will be taking it everywhere with me so that any time friends or family ask me to help with dinner when I'm at their house I don't have to use their old dull knives.Other than the handle being a bit heavy which causes the center of balance to be quite far back, the ergonomics are great. Plenty of knuckle clearance and a good usable blade shape. The VG-10 blade comes usably sharp out of the box and should be easy to sharpen and hold an edge well if it's anything like other VG-10 knives I've used.If you are like me and enjoy cooking with friends but hate using low quality and dull knives then this is the perfect travel chef knife for you! I'd be surprised to find one better in the same price category!
