Control and monitor with Home Assistant
I love the Shelly brand because the devices are open and can work without cloud, which is how I have it -- connected to Home Assistant. Full functionality including firmware upgrades are supported. In my case there is an indoor dimmer which controls outside lights. I wired the pm mini so the dimmer and lights were behind it and placed it into the dimmer's outlet box. I then connected it to the wifi and then Home Assistant picks it up. From there I put in an automation to turn on lights at sunset and off at 11:30pm. The power monitoring is a bonus for me and wasn't a reason why I bought it, but now I know my lights use 0.05 kWh each day, a fraction of a penny of electricity cost. The other benefit of the power monitoring is the dimmer is in the basement where it's not easily accessible, I can manipulate the dimmer and see the power usage and guesstimate how bright the lights are. I only had to set them once though. You might ask why I didn't use Shelly's awesome dimmer. Well, I did. But the LED lights are the 24 VAC kind and whatever transformer is on there caused them to blow up (as in pop and smoke) 2 Shelly dimmers at which point I just kept the old, non-digital dimmer and used this Shelly as a switch.

Makes automation easy
This is a tiny little unit for home automation. It fits neatly inside a back box and lets you control things from your phone. You can also use a variety of other tools (Alexa, Google etc) to control it by voice but I don't bother with that stuff.Installation is easy. It has three inputs - live/neutral/switch and one output. Live and neutral are obvious, and if you want to use it in conjuction with a switch the live coming from the switch goes into the switch input on this unit. Then the output from this unit is connected to the load. It will connect to 14ga wires.I have two of these, one connected to a power socket (with no switch feed) and one lurking in the box behind a light fitting powered by three-way switches. The power socket operates with a simple on/off that I set up with a timerThe light is set up so that the Shelly effectively acts as a four-way switch. If I flick either of the switches the light toggles, and if I operate the Shelly I can turn the light on or off. You can also set it up so that the switch will operate normally - this means that if the switch state doesn't match the Shelly state you have to flick the switch twice to toggle the light (e.g. if the switch is off and the Shelly is on then the light is on - if you turn the switch on the light stays on and when you turn the switch off the light goes off).Where a lot of smart switches require a neutral wire, this unit can be installed behind the switch or behind the light, so if you have a switch loop you can still use it. I'm wishing I'd found these before I installed other smart switches.

Nice little switch/power-meter
Very small, perfect for my purpose.

Neutral Required
I love this over the regular mini since it has power monitoring for $5 more, only down side is that it requires neutral wire. I know the gen 1 would work but I love the size of the minis.

Work better than I expected.
I've got a few of these for running lights around my property and paired them with Home assistant. Two of them inside breaker panels and they do manage to maintain connection to the wireless internet. All things considered for the price they are fairly reliable. They try to make you subscribe for extra features in the power monitoring, but if you have them on static loads you can just calculate it by how long something is on.

Hydroponics Timer
I have a few shelly products. One of them is the plugUS that I have lights on for a timer growing lettuce. That has been so solid. Never misses a beat even if the power goes out. When the power resumes my lights do exactly as they are told to do. Unlike my microwave, oven, coffee maker which all need their times reset. Anyways I needed to turn a pump on for 30 minutes every 4 hours. If the power goes out it would all still work (if not all plants outside would die). So I wired this into the outlet. Simply perfect. It has been running flawlessly. In addition, all smart home setups regardless of who's can read all the shelly products.

Absolutely Love it!!!!!
If your using Home Assistant, this is a must!!! These things are awesome! Very very fast response with bluetooth. I can't speak for Google or Alexa on how they work with them because I use an Open-source HAOS installed on my home server. Btw HA is free and works with everything!!! Literally lol highly recommend Shelly for sure!!!!
