4G router
Purchased to replace an older Huawei cat 6 4g router that I had some intermittent problems. So far been good, not had to restart it frequently like my old router, getting same connections speeds. The wifi range is a little better than my old router so that is a bonus both 2.4 and 5ghz.The configuration contains a little less in the way of advanced functions but all the essentials are there and unlike my old router it detected the correct apn settings so I did not need to manually input these. For the price works well so far. No connection problems. Connection seems stable. Was very easy to set up. Power lead was a little shorter than my old router but not a big deal. Overall and improvement over what I had so worth while purchase.

Mercusys (It’s budget TP Link but just as good)
Don’t let the brand put you off, purchased this router for a project at a great price. For those that don’t know Mercusys is part of TP Link and in my opinion just as good quality, this has been fitted for 6 months + and I’ve had no complaints from the customer. This was used as an access point / extension from the original router due to the size of the building and there has been no loss of speed. WiFi signal is great, super easy to setup and change any settings. As far as budget routers go this is a great bit of kit for what I needed it for and wouldn’t hesitate to buy another !

Best home connection tech in ages and should have bought much sooner
What a fantastic product. After many broadband outages I needed an alternative connection via 4g that was more reliable and permanent than phone tethering that the whole house could use. In wireless (it can also act as additional AP) mode sitting between the broadband router and the rest of the house, it not only connects automatically when the broadband service disconnects but also fails back to passive mode when it returns and will even SMS you your mobile data usage monthly and send SMS alerts if you get near a data limit you define. I use it with a PAYG sim. One note is the manual has some menu instruction inconsistencies for setting the failover detection. The correct menu hierarchy is Advanced->MBB-> 3G/4G BackupOutside topping up the PAYG sim periodically there is nothing more to do once setup. If you want it in 3g/4g router mode only that works well to. It also has its own firewall which can be configuredAbsolutely brilliant!

Replacement for Virgin Hub 3
UpdateI was wrong about this router. After a couple of days everything went to hell. Suddenly my broadband started to suffer massive deceleration from >350Mbps to less than 20 Mbps ofter a couple of seconds and often 0 Mbps. The upload speeds also suffer a similar deceleration. Then I notices the 5Ghz wifi disappeared. Constant power cycling began to get ridiculous as it only solved the problems for a few hours if that. Searching the internet resulted in identifying that this was a common problem and I suspect it was as a result of me updating the firmware. It looks like TP-Link had identified the problems and had issued a firmware fix but only for US customers. Installing this would invalidate the warranty according to TP-Link. However installing that firmware was recommended on numerous sites recommending ignoring the warning message. But of course it invalidated the warranty so I decided to return the router but it was very good until the firmware update.--------------------------------------------------------A high-gloss black unit which I really liked from an aesthetic viewpoint as soon as I got it out of the box. Setup was easy when I changed my Virgin Media from router into modem mode. After which I noticed an immediate improvement in the speed, at least 25%, of all my devices connected to my Home LAN. And that's both wired and wireless devices. My only niggle is that it doesn't list some connected devices only those that use DHCP to get an IP address or are Plex servers. As well as my main Plex server I thought I may as well installed Plex on a couple of backups I have of my film, music and TV series libraries with all of these having static IP addresses for convenience sake. The others where I've given them a static Ip address are missing but that's a minor point as I have other utilities to check all devices on my LAN. Having said that this a great improvement over using the Virgin Hub 3 and well worth the money I paid.

Great but feels unfinished
I upgraded from a previous TP-Link router (the N750) as I wanted greater 5Ghz coverage, the antennae on this compared to the N750 are reversed so on the C7 the 5ghz antennae outside and the 2.4ghz inside but the N750 is the other way around assuming from this that I'd get better 5ghz coverage but that's what let me down, it's a 3 bedroom house that does seem to have 5ghz blackspots which is an unfortunate side affect of 5ghz and it's inability to penetrate solid objects easily. Unfortunately though as the 2.4ghz antennae are now inside, that signal is weaker but we're talking about speeds that are irrelevant anyway, and was still able to max out my fibre broadband with this router via WiFi.Overall, set up was fairly easy with the usual unchanged TP-Link interface, works well with BT Vision and IPTV with no configuration required and connected easily with BT Infinity. Out of the box, you'll have to change the timezone and WiFi region as they're not set to the UK. If you're looking for a new router with great performance, go for the TL-WDR4300 N750 as it's almost identical but does lack 802.11ac (I don't even own any 802.11ac devices) but if you're looking for the latest in technology then the C7 will be the one to go for, I'm sure other problems and such will be fixed with firmware updates in the near future.
