Amazing. I'm a beginner aspiring DIY'R and wanted to start with small projects and eventually work up to bigger things and I must say, this saw is perfect for my needs. It's sturdy, well made, accurate and basically just feels "The business" Cuts great, easy to use, sliding feature works great. 10/10 from me.

My Hitachi C10FCA finally packed up after 20 years of excellent service, I was about to dismantle it and attempt a refurb but decided to look and see what was available online first.Wow, so much choice and at such competitive prices (My Hitachi cost £200 back then).I looked up reviews here and on other sites, mostly DIY and tool sellers, also some youtube reviews, as a result, I selected this model as a decent budget saw ideal for my now somewhat limited use.One draw was I wouldn't have to change blades to cut through metal.First impressions when I opened the box were not good, compared to my old saw, this was light and tiny, to me, it looked like a toy.If it hadn't been for all the positive info I would have returned it as it was, but I decided to give it a fair trial.Assembly was straightforward but the instructions were somewhat overcomplex and confusing and could prove difficult for some, but stick with it and all should click into place.Once assembled it did look like an effective bit of kit, smaller than I was used to but the weight meant it was much easier to move around.It easily dealt with a range of woods at different sizes, the sliding head meant it could handle wide planks with ease, and the laser guide ( which I thought I wouldn't need) proved an added bonus.With metal, I've tried 5mm mild steel bar and 15mm copper tubing, both sliced through with ease.Cutting is clean and accurate, the cutting table is small so you will need to extend for anything over 1 metre long, the supplied clamps are not too good and need beefing up or replacing.So far I'm very happy with its overall performance so far, apart from one niggling thing.The sawdust bag provided is useless, unless you have an extractor set up you will need a vacuum cleaner on standby to clear up the mess as you work.Will this last as long as the Hitachi? I doubt it, it's not sturdy enough, but for my limited use if I get about 10 years I will be happy.As for the Hitachi, too good to junk so I've put it on my list of winter jobs.

My first chop saw, but only one complaint. The instructions weren’t sufficiently explicit about shifting over the barrier when tilting the saw to a bevel. Ended up having through the metal barrier, although the blade bit through with ease. Otherwise, amazing piece of kit

The R210SMS+ is a new 2018 model with better features than many others I have experienced over the years e.g. Wickes 2000W mitre saw - a big brute but bulky and heavy with large clear plastic guard like many others that has trouble on bevel exposes too much blade and takes time to stop from 5000+. The newer demo model has a plastic thumb trigger that broke unlike the metal trigger on a Scheppach HM80L is compact for vans, comes with handle, cheap and ideal for builders stud work but to change 2 degrees out at 90 had to unscrew many parts and with no slide versatility. Folks who buy the R210SMS- model miss the dust bag and other bits but I would recommend even with this to put a 1 meter square plastic sheet approx a foot behind held under the rear feet of the machine to collect sawdust you have a tidy workshop. This applies to any mitre saw I have used.The safety features are on YouTube‎ see ‎Russell Platten's videos on this.When assembling ensure the Evolution or Handle is upside otherwise the side spring lock-nuts prevent the slide reversing out and needs a couple of gentle mallet + wood block taps to release - as customer support's instructions, otherwise the videos help.At around £100 this saw covers most jobs required by DIY's and approx 80% of trades folks requirements but if you want more you must pay many times over this and not necessarily get 100% value for money.Blades wear out depending on use / abuse but I am still on my first Evo (Circular saw + fitted blade) after many years but I don't cut metal or plastic/laminates only wood so as not to blunt it or heat it up - which will obviously reduce its life.

I've been trying to justify needing a mitre saw for a long time and moving home finally gave me the push as the house needs some work.I opted for this saw based on reviews and I can honestly say I'm not disappointed.Unlike many saws this was setup up correctly straight out of the box and took minutes to assemble. The laser is even spot on.So far I've used it to install skirting boards and it's performed brilliantly and I wish I'd bought one sooner and saved time and money messing around with "close enough" and "square enough" made good with filler and caulk.Next job is tiling and new skirting for the rest of the home and I can't wait to start with this beauty.Top tip: connect a vacuum cleaner to the dust outlet as it kicks out a hell of a lot of dust.10/10 for accuracy10/10 for ease of assembly10/10 for versatility

It's has impressed with the easy of use. Sturdy build. It does handle jobs better than expected. Value for money. Not a bad size considering all it does.
