No problem so far on my 2023 Mac Mini with an attached USB cord
The item came in good time and well boxed. I had to wait for a week or so to test it out. But, it was a plug and play. I have a 2023 Mac Mini with a usb cord attached. I attached the device to the usb head, and things took a minute to happen when I put a CD into it, but then it came up fine. I've only tested with 1 music cd that had been burned, and the music came up fine. Next I will try data transfers etc....will update more as I explore. So far I'm happy. The cord was not problem, being able to use the usb extension cord...and the short cord on the device is stored neatly under the device when not in use. This is not as sturdy as some ... but if you treat it carefully it should be fine.

Plug it into the back
Thought I was reliving the 90's where I pay 20$ for one CD, but not only did this writer return to life after a 3 year hiatus, it survived quite a bit of percussive maintenance this morning (um ...sorry!). Important: connect to a USB port in the back of your PC tower. I don't know why, but all of my front "powered" USB ports that power everything else in the world do not work on this writer anymore. First time I used it, it worked perfectly. Put it away for years and hooked it up and it just kept clicking. Plugged it into the back and its working well. Performance: Connects fine, burns slow, reads fine, love that I can't lose the little tiny USB cord.

Good Drive, But Annoyingly Short USB Cable
This drive works well with my Mac and is a good value. That being said, it has a permanently attached USB cable (which fits into a groove on the bottom of the player when not in use) that is preposterously short - for me, at least. When attached to the port on my iMac, there's not even enough cable for me to point the drawer forward. I suppose the built in cord is a bonus for people who intend to use this as a portable and don't want to be caught without a cable, but for my desktop use it requires a cable extender. Annoying, but not a deal breaker - as I said, it seems to work well and at a reasonable price.

Great little player!
I've wanted to add a cd/dvd player to my all-in-one for a long time, but the last two I attempted to connect crashed my computer. I was nervous about this one, but read the reviews on how to handle any potential problems and felt comfortable hooking it up. It worked right off the bat! It's super small footprint takes up no room on my desk, since I already have a plastic box sitting over my two small external drives - my player sits atop the box. VERY short cord, which was no problem for me because my USB extension sits right there. But if you needed to, you could successfully use a USB extension and it would still work fine. I love the ease with which this little player operates, the slimline footprint and all things about it.

Occasional use
Bought a used HP Elitedesk with Windows 11 Pro installed from Amazon. It didn't come with a cd/dvd drive installed. I never needed one, however, as is often the case when you don't have one you need one. It works well just plug and play. Great for occasional use.

This sucker is a good value
This drive works great with Void Linux, plug n play on my mini PC. I can see where someone may say that it is slow, but these drives are getting to be less and less useful, so for the frequency in which it will get used the speed is a good trade-off. It is completely powered by the USB connection, so that is obviously going to be the speed trade-off...which I will happily accept. Yes, the USB cord is not very long, I'm guessing 9 inches, but since I do use USB extension cords that is not an issue for me.

Works well just not for Blu-ray
Works well for only non-blu-ray dvds. My Blu-ray dvds would not play on this. I love the product nonetheless, however.
