Very impressive drill: great torque and power
Having owned several drills over the past 50 years (all but two corded), I am very impressed with the Makita cordless drill, especially its ratio of power and torque to its light weight. Easy to handle and maneuver. Love the 1/2 inch chuck that holds the bits firmly. For its price, you cannot go wrong with this machine. Look no further. It's a super tool for DIY folks. Uncertain about its durability, though, for heavy construction work 300 days a year. It's perfect for me.

Best drill portable drill I've used so far
So far I'm about 3 months into it. Loving the battery life and the sensitivity of the torque control via the dial and the trigger. It's also REALLY powerful on the drill setting and has a nice click to stop when u have it on a lower setting to prevent over-screwing.The only thing it's missing is a magnetic little platform for the screws and bits like my ryobi had. This has a much better feel than my previous Ryobi. I also got the drill with the larger battery so it's been great!I believe I got thru brick with drill as well with the masonry bit, although it doesn't have the hammer feature (so I prefer to use a plugged in hammer drill.)Anyways, 5-stars drill! Top quality!

Good addition to toolbox
I bought this set over a year ago and it is still going strong. For a drill, it is a moderate weight; not too heavy. The grip is good for my small-ish hands. It performs very well; I would recommend to anybody

This Makita Drill Rocks
Just finished my first actual job with this drill and I truly stand by it. It’s a great drill with some power to it. I will update to see how long it will last. I have high hopes for this drill from what I’ve already experienced with it. The battery is impressive and charges quick ( we hope that lasts forever)

Poor stock management by Amazon but decent deal over just drill on additional battery
As others have noted1) Battery was totally discharged. Zero bars on arrival2) Drill back had cardboard litter making it seem used when the rest of the drill was pristine.(1a) I thought as others the battery was DEAD. But - The charger WILL charge the battery - overnight 1st time - as the smart balance charger knows it can't ram feed a totally discharged battery.I'd still recommend cycling the battery a few times in a high load tool like leaf blower etc to get it conditioned and see if it's not taken damage from full discharge sitting (isn't great for these batteries).(1b) This implies poor stock rotation and management by Amazon - as the boxes with totally discharged batteries had to have been sitting for perhaps years. So pick up your game Amazon!(2) The packing detritus does seem to be just that - as everything else was pristine (charger, battery, front of drill, etc) suggesting that it wasn't a used product (say somebody swapping batteries and returning.Notes:z) This replaces an earlier model of the same that I'd had for 15-20 years - which was still running strong. I just dropped it off ladder with a long bit in it and wrecked the front end. So with such storied historycontinuing to stick with Makita (I also have and love their (non snake looking) leaf blower.a) Charger is SD - which is not the fast charger - which is RC (Rapid Charge). That's OK if you don't need to turn around batteries fast.b) The delta in cost from just drill to with battery (and bag and charger) of about $33 is inexpensive for just an additional battery - and why I went for the kit even though I already had an RC charger (so didn't need the included SD slow charger).Overall I'll be satisfied if the battery holds up well after a few cycles and the drill remains solid.

Good piece of equipment
This is a must have for me to keep in my car. Used it just a few days ago when I went out to my car and realized I had a flat tire. I was able to inflate the tire so that I could drive to the tire store to have it properly repaired.

Great DIY drill
Just purchased my second Makita XFD131 drill.Initially, bought this to drill holes in ceiling joists that were being bolted together. There wasn't a lot of space to fit both the drill and drill bit. This drill is smaller than most, so it fit the tight spaces. And with a Diablo drill bit it went through old and new wood with ease. Also works great driving in 4" wood screws.
